Waste (Cilla 2L)

The document discusses different types of waste such as household, business, construction, and medical waste. It identifies various forms of waste including solid, liquid, gaseous, hazardous, and biomedical waste. The document outlines ways to reduce waste such as reusing, reducing, and recycling. It distinguishes between biodegradable waste that can decompose and non-biodegradable waste that cannot. The recycling process and impacts of waste like pollution and extreme weather caused by climate change are summarized. Classification of waste is also presented.

Types of waste

1. Household
2. Businesses
3. Constructions
4. Hospital or clinics
5. Schools

Types of waste affect people’s health and environment :

1. Hazardous waste
2. Solid waste
3. Liquid waste
4. Gaseous waste
5. Biomedical waste
6. Compost waste

In reducing the production waste at home, in school and around the community you have to :

1. Reuse
2. Reduce
3. Recycle

Bio degradable waste :

It can be decomposed by microorganisms or decomposers and not be adding to pollution.

Example : paper waste, death plants, woods etc.

Non bio degrable waste :

Waste that cannot be decomposed by the biological ways.

Example : allumuniom cans, plastics, etc.

Recycle process :

1. Recycling
2. Analysis
3. Collection
4. Transportation
5. Recovery
Non bio degradable :

1. Recyclable waste
2. Non recyclable waste

The ways to reduce waste

1. Try to recycle and reuse

2. Do not use plastic bags. Use paperm jute or cloth bags
3. If you have a bin and some space, you can start a compost that could feed back into the garden
4. Learn to repair rather than discard things
5. Buy a durable and reusable water bottle, do not use plastic bottle

Classification of waste :

a. According to the kind/form of waste :

1. Solid
2. Liquid
3. Gas
b. On the basis of amount of moisture :
1. Wet
2. Dry
c. According to their effect on life and environment :
1. Hazardous
2. Non-hazardous
d. According to their properties :
1. Bio degradable
2. Non bio degradable
e. E-waste (electronic waste)

The impact of waste :

1. Many aquatic animal die every year because of plastic bag litter
2. Pollution (air, water, soil)
3. Extreme Weather Caused By Climate Change
Firstly, harmful greenhouse gases are created from decomposing waste. These rise up to the
atmosphere and trap heat. This adversely causes extreme weather reactions in the form of
storms and typhoons. How else are we impacted? Well, apart from temperature what is also
drastically affected is the level of precipitation in the air. From acid rain to severe hail storms or
global warming – everything is fair game at present. This also spreads out into other areas with
regards to subdivisions such as thermal and radioactive pollution.
