Introduction
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 1999 catalogue of ERRI publications.
The European Rail Research Institute (ERRI) was established nearly fifty years ago and throughout this
time has been at the forefront of railway technology research and development. With its close links to the
International Union of Railways (UIC), ERRI has been synonymous with international railway research
and has gained a reputation for technical excellence and professional project management through
international co-operation.
ERRI experience in co-ordinating and performing railway research programmes concentrates on:
ð Managing and executing research projects from inception to completion
ð Developing and testing railway equipment
ð Monitoring and adapting emerging technologies for rail application
ð Formulation of standards for adoption in international rail traffic
ERRI operates with professional in-house technical and managerial experts with specialist skills tuned for
projects. Its contact network also extends to 500 experts world-wide who are able to provide an additional
resource in terms of their knowledge and expertise.
ERRI is conscious that, in a rapidly changing market, new entrants, restructured railway organisations,
equipment manufacturers and consultancy firms are looking for reliable sources of information to help
unravel the complexities of railway technology.
European Rail Services (ERS), a wholly owned subsidiary of ERRI, was created in 1997 to market ERRI's
knowledge base. In addition to the traditional product range of ERRI publications, ERS is able to offer a
number of services including consultancy, interactive conferences and software available under licence.
The UIC is the owner of the intellectual property rights of these publications and software and ERS has
obtained the exclusive marketing and sales rights from the UIC. In addition, our new subsidiary,
European Rail Software Applications (ERSA), can offer you tailor-made software.
In this catalogue you will find the whole spectrum of ERRI publications. An order form is enclosed so
you can send your order off to us without delay. Alternatively you can phone, fax or e-mail ERS with
your requirements. If you need any further information concerning any of the items in the catalogue,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
We will be pleased to help with any enquiry you may have.
