SAFETY CAMPAIGN MARCH 2022 – LIFTING

 Plan Lifting Operations and control the area


 Before lifting operation Confirm that
• The equipment and load have been inspected and are fit for
purpose
• The ground is hard and level
• The operator is certified and competent
• The area of lifting is well barricaded
• Lifting certificate and PTW duly authorized
 Do not walk under a suspended load

Before performing lift utilizing any stationary or mobile equipment such as crane,
hoist, winch, mobile elevated working platform or other mechanical lifting device the
following requirements shall be met:

 Lift assessment is completed and method of lift and lifting equipment


determined by a competent person/s
 Lifting equipment operators are trained and certified for that particular
equipment
 Only competent personnel shall carry out rigging of the load
 lifting devices and equipment has been certified for use within the last 12
months
 Load does not exceed dynamic and/or static capacities of the lifting equipment
 Any safety devices installed on lifting equipment are operational
 All lifting devices and equipment have been visually examined before each lift by
a competent person/s

Operating a Forklift
 Authorized operators only
 Quickly report accidents
 Always wear seat belts
 No person under the forks
 Operate controls only from driver’s seat
 Never block exits or emergency equipment
 Use of trained banksman
