Reflection

We kill time. We save time. We rob and get robbed of time, we lose time, and we have all the
time in the world. But no one of us is powerful enough to stop the march of time or slow it down.

Most likely it is not beyond our control. But, we can be the master of our time and the results are
worth the effort we exerted. But time management is a choice; how we spend our time is much up to our
discretion.

I, myself, seldom kill time by procrastinating and doing unproductive activities to ignore what is
really at hand. What starts as a short break browsing online, can turn into hours wasted. It feeds my lack
of action and interrupts my workflow. There are instances that a task seems daunting to do that I don’t
want to get it started. As a result, I come up with random things to do to forget such task for a moment.
However, I will still always go back thinking how to knock off such task out. I realized that the more I
procrastinate, the longer it will take for my tasks to get done.

Moreover, I admit that sometimes I rob time in the workplace. Nowadays, the use of technology
is everywhere and it’s hard to escape it even if we want to. A quick browse on the internet for personal
purposes is uncommon to us and I admit I’m doing such thing. Sometimes, the socialization in the
workplace can create a time theft. We tend to easily get off track by having non work- related
conversations. However, such socialization can relieve stress during a busy time. It’s just I need to limit
the time spent in such activity and discipline myself to prevent time theft in the work place.

Above all, time management is the key. It is an important skill that we need in our everyday lives
to achieve and organize our tasks. Without time management, we would be unable to reach our goals,
make deadlines meet and accomplish plans we set for ourselves. Practicing this will surely improve the
performance and well-being of an individual. Given the possible reasons of not spending time wisely
above, an individual should organize his schedule or make a time table to avoid the stress of losing
productivity.

Concrete strategies that will assist an individual in the actualization of the
value of punctuality and honesty

Punctuality

1. Set up reminders. Set up a reminder for meetings and appointments an hour before you have to leave.
Also, set up another reminder for fifteen minutes before you have to go. That way, you can time yourself so
that you’re ready to leave on time.
2. Determine How Long It Takes to Perform Certain Tasks. Often people, who arrive late to work,
struggle to determine how long it takes them to perform specific tasks. For instance, it may take them 30
minutes to get ready in the morning when the reality is it takes them a lot longer than that. One way to
break through maybe to identify all the tasks that you need to complete in the morning to arrive on time for
work. An alternate way is to invest a week tracking how long it takes to complete each of these tasks..
3. Get Organized And Plan Ahead. A major part of being on schedule is developing habits that help
maximize your efficiency. That means looking up directions ahead of time or making lists of what you
need to accomplish to leave on time.
4. Strictly follow your To-Do List. Once you identify what your list looks like, ruthlessly cut out anything
that is not a priority.

Honesty

1. Consider Long-Term Consequences. While a little white lie may appear to be the best choice in the short-
term, before you speak consider the long-term consequences. Determine for yourself if telling an untruth is
worth the consequence. Are the potential long-term consequences worth this short-term fix?
2. Think Before You Speak. As the saying goes, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything
at all. All virtues must be balanced. Being blatantly honest at the expense of causing harm only causes pain.
Honesty without compassion can result not only in a negative outcome but also has a negative karmic
impact. Do not be honest just for the sake of being honest. Speak what is of value. If the words are not
kind, are not true and/or are not useful, they do not need to be spoken.
3. Be transparent in your transactions. Provide proofs and liquidation in every transactions made.
4. Owning up to something that you have done. The right thing is to own up to your mistake and not let
anyone else suffer.
5. Pay attention to your environment. Your environment leaves clues about your identity and you can’t
afford to be messy, unkempt and unprepared. The entire world is a spectator and it pays to put your best
foot forward at all times.

W.A.T.C.H. practices in the school that needs to be upheld

1. Curriculum integration. The values of punctuality and honesty were included in the lessons of the teachers
particularly the goals and objectives as part of the subjects.
2. Bulletin board updates. Updates, information campaign in School Bulletin Board found in distinct places of
the school grounds.
3. Recognition and Awards. Recognize the WATCH awardees and these might be teachers or non-teaching
staff demonstrating the no late and absent of the month.
