1.Why do think it is important to know the history of public speaking?
- In short, without knowing the history of public speaking, you wouldn't have
come to know about various concepts or have extensive knowledge about it,
or get inspired by the way these great speakers spoke back then.
2. How should speeches be organized? Why do you think so?
- Speech organization is effectively taking the information one wishes to
present and arranging it in a logical order. Start with main points or smaller
chunks of information to break down the overall purpose. Then, use
supporting materials, like examples, statistics, testimony or a narrative, that
backs your claims.
3. Do you think public speaking is important? Why or why not?
- It allows us to form connections, influence decisions, and motivate change.
Without communication skills, the ability to progress in the working world and
in life, itself, would be nearly impossible. Public speaking is one of the most
important and most dreaded forms of communication.
4. Should public speakers be ethical too? Why or why not?
- yes Because in everything, we must be disciplined and ethical. The speakers
should filter out their speeches and inform the audience with the right
informations and facts. It is the responsibility of the speakers to be ethical.
5. Who are the people would you consider ethical speakers? Who are
speakers you consider unethical? Explain your answers.
- unethical :
Most Unethical speakers who are really hurting people are politicians who
cheat people by their words
Then Journalists, media professionals who Counterfeiting the facts and hide
the truth to serve only some people on account of the other and this is another
kind of cheating
Lawyers who defend real criminals and know their truth despite that they
defending them for money
People who never say the truth and lie and cheat whatever the way for that
they are Unethical speakers
Ethical :
Ethical speakers are ones who do not plagiarize their material or try to pass
off words and ideas from others as their own.
Ethical speakers do not deceive their audience. It can also be stated that
ethical speakers do not distort or warp facts, or worse yet, disguise opinions
as fact in order to argue their thesis or make their point.

- The three different parts of speech according to Corax are
Introduction, Body and Conclusion.
2. According to Aristotle, what components make a speech
persuasive? Explain this in your own words.
- Aristotle determined that persuasion comprises a combination of
three appeals: logos, pathos, and ethos. Anyone seeking to
persuade an audience should craft his/her message with facts
(logos), tapping an argument's emotional aspect (pathos), and
presenting his/her apparent moral standing (ethos).
3. Why does Ceciro believe you should use strategies to engage the
audience? Do you agree? Why or why not?
- yes,because using strategies may affect the audience belief of
what they watch or hear, and it may change their beliefs when
your strategies is more believing.
4. What is Balagtasan? Why is it the most well-known Filipino public
speaking tradition?
- Balagtasan is Filipino form of debate done in verse. The term is
derived from the surname of Francisco Balagtas. The balagtasan
was used by Filipino writers and poets to express the most
progressive and current political ideas then and to comment on
contemporary social issues
5. What do you think is the most important component that makes a
speech persuasive? Why do you say so?
- Persuasive speeches can come in many forms, such as sales
pitches, debates, and legal proceedings.
- Persuasive speeches may utilize the three modes of
persuasion: ethos, pathos and logos.
- Ethos is the most important appeal in a persuasive speech.
- Factors such as body language, the willingness of the
audience, and the environment in which the speech is given,
all affect the success of a persuasive speech.
- Audience Analysis is important in a persuasive speech, as
the audience will be convinced for their own reasons, not for
the speaker’s reasons.
6. What surprise you the most when you read the history? Why were
you surprised?
- BECAUSE SOME OF OUR NATIONAL HEROES SACRIFICE
THERE LIVES FOR OUR COUNTRY AND THE ART AND
CRAFTS THAT OUR ANCESTORS MAKE, MAKES ME FEEL
HONORED.
7. What is the difference between the Western and Filipino public
speaking traditions?
- Public speaking is a way of oral communication that speaker
speaking confidently in front of many people with the purpose of
your speech delivery is either to give information, to persuade or
motivate the people and to entertain. The difference between
Western and Filipino public speaking is that first their English
language they use or pronunciation of words. Western country like
Chile and Argentina they usually their English are "slang" and
sometimes difficult to understand especially us. While in Filipinos
the way of speaking English are very clear but sometimes
Filipinos use borrowing words or mix "Tagalog".
The public speaking are usually do by politicians. It seems are very
traditional when election is near but the difference is that Western
politicians are announcing their speech at the formal venue and are just
pressing the media. While in the Philippines even at the public plaza
can be a venue for public speaking.
8. Who do you consider a good speaker? Why you think so?
- I consider as a good speaker is the present president of the
Philippines, Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
He is a good speaker because many people would want to listen
to him speak meaning they had loved his first speech to want him
giving more. He means everything he says and he had proven
himself a long time ago even when he was just a Mayor. He uses
words that appeals to the audience. People know him and his
thoughts by his public speaking that is full of sincerity and
truthfulness.
9. How do public speakers affect society? Give concrete examples.
- Public speaking skills allow people to to influence the world
through public leadership in society, including roles in commercial
organizations, the volunteer sector, groups, and clubs. They can
also enhance one’s personal development and self-confidence.
10. What are your thoughts and feelings about public speaking?
- My thoughts and feelings about public speaking are the following
- Public speaking needs courage to stand and speak in front of
many people.
- It takes courage to fight against stage fright which all of us have
and we need to conquer such fear to achieve success.
- We need to practice speaking in front of a mirror to see if our
gestures and eye contact is good to look at.
- We feel more comfortable in the actual public speaking if we had
practice the speech several times and much more effective if we
had practiced it in front of some audience like family or friends.
- Public speaking develops one’s pronunciation and confidence
because you will make sure that things will flow perfectly as you
do not want to be embarrassed in the real scenario.
- Public speaking trains us to become successful in life because it
molds our confidence and self esteem.
- We don’t need to be very intelligent to succeed in life. A good
public speaking ability can bring us to success as we know how to
deal and talk to others confidently in the future.
