PERFORMANCE TASK
INTRODUCTION TO THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE HUMAN PERSON
(1) As a philosophy student journeying towards transcendental experiences through the aid of human reason. You are
inviting to reflect on a concrete experience in a philosophical way. There are certain insights or themes of discussion that
have been highlighted in philosophy of Man. Such as the human person was not limited only to his rationality but also viewed
as embodied subjectivity. This involves his/her affections, emotions and holistic approaches to acknowledge his nature as a
“person or personhood.” (2) With this manner, you are expecting to make a REACTION PAPER about the proposition,
“MADALING MAGING TAO, MAHIRAP MAGPAKATAO,” as your modest attempt to lay philosophical understanding. You are
going to consult the ideas of your chosen philosopher about the latter. The aim of this REACTION PAPER is to expose a
philosophical line of thought of the philosophers given. In the contemporary society, we have been wandering a lot of
questions that forms different perspectives in understanding the question, “what is man” to “who is man?”
(3) In line to this, looking at the perspective of your fellow students, and young generations of today, how will you
enlighten their minds?
(4)The world of man is centered or anchored in his understanding about his own inquiry in the reality on how was the
human person came to have its meaning and purpose in this world. Hence, philosophy is equipped to advance the
rationality of man in dealing the questions of reality. For an instance, Simone Weil a French philosopher asserts that the aim
of education as an agent of social engineering is “to master the concept of attention.” In contrast to Rene Descartes
philosophical banner, I think therefore I am, Weil claimed that the human person is basically an acting person changing the
perspective into “I can act therefore I exist.” In line to her thoughts, the human person is bounded to have his/her attention
in the reality of others making the human person transcend his existence in constructing the true and genuine human
understanding of the human person. With the same manner,
