Strategy & Tips for
Banking Exam Preparation
Bank exam preparation is a process that cannot be done in a day or two. One
has to be completely dedicated and diligently prepare for the exam. Bank
exams require a hold on major components in order to crack the exam. Hence,
start your preparation for bank exams now with us for a better tomorrow.

Practice Online bank exam mock tests to reach out to an advanced level of
preparation along with which you can identify your strengths and weak-
nesses easily.

Time management and accuracy are the major factors to be conquered in

order to get success in the bank exams.

Plan out a daily routine of practicing questions to work on time manage-

ment skills, so that none of the topics is left untouched.

Regular revision of the syllabus will keep you updated with the topics asked
in the bank exams in order to help you solve the questions quickly.
There is no negative marking for wrong answers

Sectional tips & Strategy
1. English Preparation
English Language is a crucial section for all bank exams. If you are not
good at English, a proper preparation strategy can help you fetch good
marks in this section. There is sectional timing in the Prelims Exam. A
candidate will have 20 minutes to attempt the English Language Section.
Two crucial factors that you need to take care of while preparing English
Section are -
Vocabulary
Grammar
If you manage to have a good hold over these parameters, attempting
questions of the English Language Section becomes comparatively easy.

Try to keep following things in mind while solving questions of the

topics mentioned below -
Reading Comprehension - While solving Reading Comprehen-
sion questions, try to first have a look at 1-2 questions and then pro-
ceed with the passage. This approach will help you mark out the
answers easily.

Cloze Test - While attempting a Cloze test, if you feel stuck on any
blank, leave it out and move on to the next one. Once you are done
with it, try to go through the previous blank. This might help since all
the sentences of the passage are logically connected with each other.

Parajumbles - While solving Parajumbles, first have a quick glance

at the given sentences to understand the gist of the paragraph. And,
then look for the independent sentence, which usually is the first sen-
tence of the paragraph.

32
Sectional tips & Strategy

Spotting Error/Sentence Improvement - Attempting Spot-

ting Errors or Sentence Improvement based questions is comparative-
ly easy if you have a clear understanding of all the grammar rules and
the sentence structure.

Fill in the blanks/Double Fillers - In these questions, apply

the elimination technique. Eliminate options one by one which cannot
be suitable according to you. Choose that option which fits the blank
without changing the sense/theme of the sentence.

2. Quantitative Aptitude Preparation Strategy

Quantitative Aptitude is an important and scoring section in most of the
Banking Exams. You will have to solve 35 questions in a time frame of 20
minutes. So you must be thorough with all the basic concepts, tips, short
tricks, and important formulas of this part so that you will be able to solve
questions quickly without compromising on accuracy. Attempt your
strong sections first.
Regular Practise - Take every practice test as seriously as you would
while sitting in the main exam. Time yourself for every quiz that you take.
Have a list of formulae that are important and make sure that you
memorise them all.
Save your time, attempt easy ones quickly and then come back to
tricky/ difficult questions.

3. Reasoning Ability Preparation Strategy

Reasoning Ability is a challenging section among all other sections in
the preliminary phase. In order to excel in the reasoning section, it is of
utmost importance that you develop an in-depth understanding of the
different topics asked in this section, and this requires proper logical
and reasoning skills. Working hard and solving questions regularly
based on the different topics covered under Reasoning Syllabus is of
paramount relevance.

33
Sectional tips & Strategy

Points to Ponder while preparing Reasoning for Prelims Exams

Practice a lot of questions - Cramming will never work in the
Reasoning questions of SBI PO Prelims. Questions based on
Reasoning will be purely logic-based. Practice as the previous year's
question paper as possible, so that your logic-building process is
initiated and you can identify how to proceed further with a problem

Maintain Speed and Accuracy - Always start with reading

and understanding concepts of the Reasoning topics. Try to make an
image of the question in your mind wherever possible. Once you are
able to understand the basics behind each topic, divert your focus on
both speed and accuracy since bank exams are competitive
recruitment examinations.

Time Management - Solving questions in a timely manner is

extremely important. Since these questions are based on logic, there
will always be a number of methods to solve them. Your thought
process must be ready to identify the best way to solve keeping in
mind both time and accuracy.

4. Reasoning Ability Preparation Strategy

General Awareness is an essential section of any bank exams. The
banking general awareness section checks how much the candidate is
keeping up with the happenings around the world.
It is one of the most interesting topics of bank exams because, on this
topic, they ask questions based on daily life incidents.

The General awareness section includes banking knowledge, general

knowledge, current affairs and economic knowledge. Any candidate
who wants to score more in the General Awareness section must
thoroughly prepare themselves as it is the most scoring subject in the
bank exams.

34
Sectional tips & Strategy

Choosing the appropriate set of banking awareness books is also a

must for the candidates as what they prepare will get reflected in their
performances.

Solution : X2 – 3X – 2X + 6 = 0
The pattern of the series is: X(X – 3) – 2(X – 3) = 0
2 × 5 + 5 = 15 (X – 3)(X – 2) = 0
15 × 4 + 4 = 64 X = 3, 2
64 × 3 + 3 = 195 II. Y2 – 12Y + 35 = 0
195 × 2 + 2 = 392 Y2 – 7Y – 5Y + 35 = 0
392 × 1 + 1 = 393 Y(Y – 7) – 5(Y – 7) = 0
Hence, option D is correct (Y – 7)(Y – 5) = 0
Y = 7, 5
