the “Elements of Art”

you will only be given 10 seconds shapes, form and etc.
to draw what you want on the paper
and proceed to another volunteer.
Also, you will have the freedom to
decide how your art should look
like.

Very good class!

Now, who can give me their “I can see different

observations on the artwork? shapes, colors, forms and

teacher”

You’re right!

Class what you just did is an

example of an artwork that shows
the elements of art.

Now let us discuss further about

the elements of art.
D. Discussing new The teacher will show a
concepts and PowerPoint Presentation about
practicing new skills the Elements of Art.
#1
1. Line –a moving dot. It has a
beginning and an end.

If the dots overlap, it is a solid line,

if they do not overlap it is a dotted
line.

For example:
Solid line

Dotted line

Lines can also be:

Long

Short

Thick

Thin

Straight

Curved

Zigzag

Diagonal

Horizontal
Vertical

The teacher will ask some

students to draw an example of a
solid line and dotted line on the
board.

2. Shape –lines that meet up to

enclose a space.

Shapes are 2-dimensional.

Meaning they have height and
width but no depth. To put it simply
it is flat.
For example:
Square

Circle

Triangle

Rectangle

The teacher will ask some

students to draw an example of
shapes in the board.
3. Form –a shape that has depth.

Form is a shape that is made into

three-dimensional (3D). Three
dimensional form has the
appearance of taking up space
and you can see multiple sides.

Example of forms include:

Cubes
Pyramids

Cones

Cylinders

The teacher will ask some

students to draw an example of
form in the board.

4. Space –this is what lies

between, around or within an
object.

There are techniques in creating

an illusion of space between
objects.

For example:
Overlapping –an object is drawn
on top of another object
Size –smaller objects look as if
they are further away than larger
objects

Negative space –all around the

object

Positive space –subject of the

drawing

The teacher will ask some

students to draw an example of
space in the board.

5. Value –how light or dark

something is.

There is scale of light and dark

from pure white through to pitch
black.

Value is used to create shadows

whish show light direction and
anchor the object, preventing it
from appearing as though it is
floating.
For example:

The teacher will ask some

students to draw an example of
value in the board.

6. Color –is created when light is

reflected into the viewer’s eye.

In art, colors are arranged on a

color wheel which is developed by
Isaac Newtoon.

Ilustration of the color wheel:

The color wheel shows the

primary colors (Red, Yellow, and
blue), secondary and tertiary
colors which are created through
the mixing of the three primary
colors.

The teacher will ask the students

to bring out their crayons and try
mixing the colors blue and yellow
on their paper and ask them the
color that was made out of it.

7. Texture –refers to the way an

object looks or feels.

The most common textures are

rough and smooth.
For example:
Rough

Smooth

The teacher will ask the students

if what objects they have known
that has rough and smooth
texture.

E. Discussing new Now that you have known the

concepts and elements of art let’s try to do some
practicing new fun activity.
skills # 2
But before that let us divide the
class into seven (7) groups.
In order to be fair let’s have some
counting.
Let us start with number 1… (The student’s starts
counting)
After the counting meet with your
group and then choose a leader.

Instructions:
In a short bond paper kindly draw
an object that shows an element of
art. The leader will come in front to
pick out the element in the mystery
box that you that you are going to
include in your artwork. Once you
finish your work paste you can
paste it in the board and let us try
to see how well did you do. I will
give you 10 minutes to accomplish
the task. Remember to collaborate
with your group mates and be
creative.

Do you understand? If you have Yes, teacher.

any questions feel free to ask me.
Leaders kindly come in front, make
a line starting from group 1 up to
group 7 and pick out the element
that you are going to include in
your drawing.

(After the leaders have finished

picking)

You may now start doing the

activity.
F. Developing Given that you have done it by
Mastery group. It’s time to do it individually.

Kindly bring out your art materials. “Yes teacher”

Yesterday, I told you to bring it
right?

This is what you are going to do.

Listen to my instructions.

Instruction:
Try to imagine a landscape or
world that you have seen in
person, a story or a dream and
draw it. But make sure that in your
drawing you will be able to show
the different elements of art. Kindly
use a short bond paper. You have
10 minutes to finish the task. Once
you finish your work you can pass
it here in front. Do not forget to
write your name on the back of the
paper.

G. Finding practical The teacher will ask the students

applications of some important questions:
concepts and
skills in daily living What is the importance of using It is important ma’am
