STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction
I would like to introduce myself as Dhiraj Bhandari (D.O.B 13 July 2004),
permanent citizen of Budhiganga-1, Morang, Nepal. My passport number is
12402331 which was issued by Government of Nepal, District Administration
Ofiice, Morang, Nepal and my citizenship number is 05-01-78-02799. I am an
applicant to study Diploma of Computer Programming at Georgian College,
Ontario,Canada. I have always been interested in Computer Progamming and
always wanted to pursue a career in related field. Thus, I am very excited to
continue my further study in Canada and establish my career in the interested field.

Family Background
Talking about my family, my family includes 3 members comprising my Father,
Mother and Myself, My Father is a founder as well as campus chief and nepali
teacher of higher secondary and secondary level in Modern Era English School,
My mother is an assistant accountant of same institution.

Academic Background:
I have completed my Secondary Education Examination (S.E.E) from Modern Era
Higher Secondary School, Morang securing a grade 3.85 GPA in year 2019. After
completion of my S.E.E, I joined same school for my Higher Education. I took
Science as my major subject and completed my High School securing 3.7 GPA in
aggregate in 2021. As I was interested in Computer Programming, I have decided
to look forward to study the subject that suits and satisfies me and I found
Computer Programming as the best. I did some researches about the colleges in my
country which provides this course. Although, computer Programming is available
here in renowned universities and slightly gaining popularity nowadays but it isn't
the best here. This course needs more practical knowledge and modern
infrastructure which is lacking here in Nepal due to which we won't be able to
compete with the global scenario. Thus, I made up my mind to study abroad and
found Canada as the best destination for me. After that I started preparing for
IELTS and then took examination on 23 April 2023. I scored overall band 6.5
(listening 7, Writing 6 , Speaking and Reading 7.5). (IELTS score enclosed).

Why not Nepal?

Nepal has always faced the challenges in developments. As per my research only
few universities and colleges provide similar course here in Nepal. As well the
program doesn't include regular revised courses and the courses are not updated
and also the universities still rely on old teaching methodologies. Studying the
subject of my interest in Nepal doesn't seem to lead me in brightened future. From
primary level to higher level to +2, I am very much familiar with the educational
system of my country. So, as to get accessed to new educational system,
techniques and technology, I am eager to continue my education in Canada.
Another reason for not choosing my own country is because the education system
here focuses more on theoretical knowledge rather than practical. But as per my
research on Canadian Universities and colleges, I got to know that the students are
encouraged to get practical and realistic knowledge about a particular field.

Why Canada?
My Secondary Language is English. Thus, English speaking countries are the only
options for me to continue my further studies. Canada is ranked among the top 3
countries in the world for studying abroad. Being a country of immigrants from all
over the world, different perspectives are respected and learning is encouraged.
Also, Canada is renowned for its high quality of education at an affordable price
compared to USA, Australia and UK. I have a keen interest to study in Canada as it
offers quality higher education which is globally competitive. And among the
listed countries, I choose Canada for my further study because of the learning
environment, cultural diversity and high quality of education. Canada’s higher
education providers support to build independent thinking skills, communication
skills, creativity, confidence etc. Which I believe are key qualities that any
individual will require being saleable in this competent world. Canadian graduates
are preferred by employers worldwide. I believe my qualification will be
internationally recognized and it will open doors of opportunities for me after I
become a Canadian graduate.

Apart from academics, the climatic condition of Canada is very distinct as it has
four seasons particularly in the more populated regions along the US border.
Besides Canadians are polite and community oriented who encourage foreigners to
retain and share their own cultural practices, Canada can be called as one of the
world’s safest country. Also Canada is marked as a country having a very low
crime rate which makes living and studying in Canada very easier. In my home
country, I did research on few colleges but there are lack of Political stability and
practical knowledge which are major drawbacks.
In addition to this, I will be learning about other aspects of the social life in among
variety of students and new ideas which I can carry back for proper
implementation. Regarding Security of international students, Canadian
government has always been concerned fully.

Reasons for not choosing other countries:

The program Diploma in Computer Programming is also available in many other
countries but I choose Canada for my further Studies but not in other countries
because of the following reasons.
 USA: United States of America (USA) is the first choice among many
international students but American universities are known to have massive
tuition rates depending on what kind of school we attend. The tuition fees in
USA are comparatively higher than Canada . Furthermore, I found visa
processing time is longer and would also consume more time in preparing
SAT as well. The crime rate in USA is also higher than Canada which is
very important for international students for their safety.
 UK: The value of UK Currently is really high. Also in UK, there is frequent
alternation in UK Border Agency (UKBA) immigration policies that
directly affect the UK's education system and International students. There
is no post study work arrangement for student which limits us only to
theoretical Knowledge.
 Australia- as per my research the tuition fee and living expenses in
Australia is higher than in Canada which is difficult to maintain for
Nepalese students.
 European countries: Most of the European countries use their own
language, which makes difficult for any international students to continue
their higher education in one of those.

Why Ontario?
ontario is canada’s second largest province, covering more than 1 million
square kilometers (415,000 square miles) – an area larger than France and spain
combined. Ontario is a study contrasts. Ontario has more than 250,000 lakes
contain about one-fifth of the world’s fresh water. Ontario has the largest number
of universities and post-secondary colleges of any province in Canada. Students
gain a competitive edge because degrees, diploma and certificates received from
Ontario’s universities and colleges are recognized worldwide. Ontario is home to
40% of the country’s population and more international student than other
province, Ontario is the most populous (and popular) part of the country.

Toronto, Ontario’s capital has long dominated Ontario’s English-

speaking and Canada’s cultural life and continues to do so. Home to many of the
province’s artists and cultural institutions, the city also functions as the media
centre of English-speaking Canada; it thus plays a key role in popular culture and
entertainment. Some of the city’s many public and private art galleries and
museums enjoy international eminence –most notably ,the Art Gallery of Ontario
and the Royal Ontario Museum. Toronto has attracted numerous graphic artists and
sculptors as well.

Why Georgian college (Ontario)?

Although there are many colleges and university in Toronto , after considering
each and every admission parameter and almost falling in love with the flow of the
curriculum I chose Georgian college which is comprehensive and engaging and has
sterling faculties and research opportunities. Georgian college was founded in 1967
during the inception of the college system of Ontario . It has seven campuses in
various areas across Ontario, encompassing an area of 21,000 sq km. Barrie
campus is the largest and is home to an Art gallery , Changemaker Space, fitness
center , library and so on. As per my research on this college, I have found out that
Georgian college’s staffs are committed to understanding the student's individual
needs to help us gain an academically, culturally and socially enriching experience
with the college. The main things I liked about this college are its Academic
learning centre, its network support for students, providing information, advice and
resources to assist the students with many other requirements to study at Georgian
College. We can get the college’s support when completing task and preparing for
exams. Georgian college is available to assist international students with the
transition into college life and life in Canada. Apart from this, the staffs of this
college do their best to help out international students with accommodation as well
as other welfare supports. I was very particular about the programs and courses
that I wanted to study. So when I searched the internet, I found Georgian college
the most appropriate college for me

Why Diploma in Computer programming ? :

I have always been interested in using computer and exploring its different
functions from my childhood as I was very fortunate to have laptop from my early
age. However, at that time I was not sure as to which subject I might choose in
future as my career. Now after knowing my interest, I have decided to make it as
my career. So, I have now decided to pursue my Diploma in Computer
programming from Georgian College .It is a 2 years diploma program , allows to
focus on computer programming, web development, and designing data-driven
systems.

During this program I will study courses like HTML, CSS and JS Fundaments,
NET programming using C#, Relational Database, Advanced Object-Oriented
Programming using Java, etc.

Another reason why I am inclined towards exclusively pursuing this course is

because I get to learn how to write code in a variety of programming languages
such as Arduino, ASP.NET, C#, Java, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, PHP, and Swift as
well.

Future plans:
According to Canadian provision, I will be facilitate with Post-Graduation Work
Permit (PGWP). So, before accomplishing my dream here in Nepal, I am planning
to work there about couple of years so that I can access the skills and experience
required to my above mentioned field. Then, I intend to return back to my home
country because I always had a dream to grow and improve my Technical and
Programming skills and utilize those skills, experience, and knowledge in my own
country. So my intention of having the degree and knowledge in abroad is solely to
grow my career in Nepal and earn a good living and respect.

We live in the era of computer and technology and programmers have various job
opportunities. Graduates programming skills are employed in a wide variety of
commercial, government and professional settings. I strongly believe that my
upgraded CV with international degree will definitely help me build my
professional career in my home country with proven skills, and upgraded
knowledge. In Nepal there are many large companies like Deer Walk Services Pvt.
Ltd, F1Soft International Pvt. Ltd, CloudFactory Limited, Braindigit IT Solution
Pvt. Ltd, Javra Software, LeapFrog Technology, etc where I can work as C#.Net
Developer, ReactJS Developer, Node.JS Developer, SQL Developer, Junior Level
Software Developer, etc. I believe I will be able to develop leadership qualities and
the capacity to work co-operatively.

Moreover, international degree is highly recognized and awarded by Nepalese

business companies which will make me eligible for highly paid jobs over local
degree holders. If a local graduate earns a NPR 25,000.00 per month, as an
international degree holder, initially I expect to receive NPR 40,000.00 to NPR
50,000.00 monthly or more upon my ability to use my creativity, knowledge and
skills and when I get more experience I will be able to have higher salary up to
NRS.80,000 to NRS.1,00,000 per months. Hence, I can recover my investment in
double motion than a national degree holder. All over, I am investing such a huge
cost in order to fulfill my dream which in returns will provide me recognition, cost
benefits and more emphasize as compared to national degree holders.

Incentive to come back to home country.

Furthermore, International degree has high market in our country which will make
it easier for me to secure a good position in leading organizations in Nepal.
Besides future professional career, I have certain duties and responsibilities to
wards my nation and parents who always supported in providing me with the best
education they can till today. I have to look after my parents as I am the only one
child .So, I am eagerly waiting to complete my study in Canada and return and
serve my nation as well as my family. Being a responsible citizen, I would surely
return to my home country and contribute for its economic prosperity and
development of computer programming sector in my own country. Besides this we
have property in Nepal. I would be grateful if I get the opportunity to pursue the
Diploma from Georgian college. If approved, I will enhance my skill and
knowledge and expand myself to fulfill potentiality in adapting new things as well
as contributing my skills. A degree from Georgian college will help me boost as
well as shape my career and my career path.

Final Remarks:
It is my honor to apply for Georgian college ,I will make lots of effort to maintain
the academic height and not mess with any of administrative rules. I am very
hopeful that my dedication, enthusiasm and hard work will pay off to get my future
career and profession.

I would be looking forward for your positive response.

Thank you
