Hei-Cast 8150
1. Description
Hei-Cast 8150 is a polyurethane system developed for vacuum molding applications. It is a quality
improved type Hei-Cast 8085 in term of its shrinkage and heat resistance designed to produce
products with high impact strength, high elasticity and high thermal resistance. It has a good
processability because its low viscosity.
Hei-Cast 8150 is suitable for making the small lot production and the trial production of plastic
parts such as office equipment housings and electric appliances bodies or cases.

3. Vacuum Molding Process
It is recommended to follow the below mentioned advice on vacuum molding process.
3.1 Resin Temperature
Both A and B components should be pre-warmed to 30~40℃.
The pot-life is influenced by the resin temperature being pre-warmed. The higher the resin
temperature gives the shorter pot-life and the lower the resin temperature, the longer
pot-life.
3.2 Mold temperature
Silicone mold should be preheated to 60~70℃.
If the temperature of silicone mold is low, under cure might be take place resulted in poor
mechanical properties.

3.3 Pre-degassing
Place both A and B components in de-gassing chamber at least for 30 minutes.
Pre-degassing should be done using original containers, i.e. 1 liter container just as it is or
proper containers after subdividing the contents respectively.
Once pre-degassing is done, any further pre-degassing might not be necessary, if resins are
used up in the same day.
As the resin temperature has been dropped during the pre-degassing process, the resin
should be heated again.
3.4 Casting
The containers are to be set as A component is added to B component.
After a operating chamber is made vacuous, B component is de-gassed for 5~10 minutes
stirring at intervals.
The A component is added into B component, then the mixture is stirred for 30~40 seconds
under vacuum.
Pore the mixture into preheated silicone mold speedily.
The vacuum in operating chamber is leaked after approx. 90 seconds counting from
commence of the mixing.
3.5 Curing condition
Place the filled mold in the thermostatic oven at 60~70℃ for 40~60 minutes, after then the
castings can be de-molded.
Post cure at 70~80℃ for 2~3 hours is to be done at needed.
4. Precautions by handling
Please attend to the following points in order to produce a good finished article in safety.
4.1 As both A and B components are sensitive to moisture, please avoid any moisture
contamination and also long time exposure to moisture.
Please seal the container air tightly after the use.
4.2 In case A component is contaminated with moisture, many air bubbles might be observed in
the cured article. In such case the A component is warmed to 80℃, then degas for 30
minutes.
4.3 In case B component is reacted moisture, sometimes it becomes cloudy or hardening is taken
place.
The hardened material can not be used anymore.
4.4 B compound is containing more than 1 % of 4,4’-Diphenylmethan diisocyanate.
4.5 Avoid contact with hand and skin.
In case contact with hand and skin, immediately wash with soap and water.
4.6 In case contact with eyes, immediately flush eyes with running water for at least 15 minutes
and consult physician.
4.7 A duct should be installed as the exhaust gas of vacuum pump is to be discharged in the
open air.
4.8 Pay full attention to the ventilation in the working place.
