Personal Statement

Sustainability is something I’m very passionate about. The idea of preserving this
wonderful world for future generations inspires and motivates me to learn as much as I
can about the earth. This notion is the catalyst and inspiration behind wanting to study
Environmental Sustainability.
With the rise of environmental issues, I often asked myself; how do our actions impact
the planet? These were the initial thoughts that drew me to understand the world. Our
progress to stop climate change is the result of our growing inability to exist at peace
with nature. Throughout my academic year I have been extremely driven to investigate
the natural processes, planetary response, and solutions to environmental problems.
Studying global environmental sustainability at a university is an exciting opportunity
for me.
Living in a country where climate change has an adverse effect due to developmental
processes i.e. damages of terrestrial ecosystems, depletion of the natural resources, and
a serious threat to a wide range of animal and plants species resulting in massive
pollution, has driven me to pursue a career in the environment.
Over the past four years, I have shown my broad interests to environmental science,
geography and space technology in order to understand challenges that humans and the
environment face. I also have a background in the social sciences. I believe that social,
economic and political aspects overlap greatly with geographical sustainability. I
participated in a National geographic conference held by the institution department, to
promote a sustainable future in which generations to come can thrive.
My plan is to contribute to transforming my society through sustainable practices that
will facilitate change and achieve the sustainable development goals as set for 2030.
During my studies I would love the opportunity to participate in a student exchange to
broaden my knowledge. Having researched the degree, taking a year abroad to develop
as a person and to improve my career aspirations is something I wouldn't want to miss
out on.
Accepting me to participate in this course will help me to build my capacity as a
sustainable development specialist and to bring change in my society. This will also
allow me to promote the achievement of sustainable development goals in Pakistan and
the world.
I see myself thriving in a diverse and multicultural place like the UK. I hope to study
further at university to expand my learning and experience, to one day contribute all
that I know to the world.
My aspiration for the future is to use my degree to develop a higher understanding of
the geographical and environmental problems we experience today, and to work with
others who share the same interests for improvement as I do with one shared goal; to
advance, enhance and promote a sustainable environment.
