Detailed Lesson Plan in Grade 4 Scienc1

This lesson plan aims to teach students about body parts that help animals adapt to living on land. Students will label body parts of different animals, identify whether animals live on land or in water, and define habitat. The objectives are for students to identify land animals, infer how body structures help animals adapt to living on land, and explain why some animals live in particular habitats like land. The lesson uses visual aids and group activities to help students explore and explain animal adaptations.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 4 SCIENCE

CONTENT STANDARD:

The learners will demonstrate understanding of

 Animals have body parts that make them adapt to land

PERFORMANCE STANDARD:

 construct a prototype model of organism that has body parts which can
survive in a given environment.

LEARNING COMPETENCY:

 Infer that body structures help animals adapt and survive in their particular
habitat.

l. LESSON OBJECTIVES

At the end of the discussion, the students are expected to:

a. Identify what animals live on land,
b. To Infer that animals have different body structures that make them adapt to land
c. To explain why some animals live in a particular habitat (land).

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

A. Topic: Body Parts of Animals that live on Land

Now that you

already understand
about Body parts of
animals live in
water, let us now
proceed with our
discussion for
today.

I am going to show
a picture of animals.
You have to label PowerPoint

Identify the
following animals if
it is live on land or
in water.

I will group you into

three groups.

Group 1 will get 5

pictures of animals
in the box that live
on land and paste it
in the Venn
Diagram.

Group 2 will write

five examples of
animals that lives in
water in the Venn
Diagram

Group 3 will paste

the names of the
animals that live
both in land and
water.
-The teacher will
select random
students to answer
on the given
questions.

5 minutes E.EXPLAIN -What had you (Answers may vary

what is habitat?

Why do animals live All organisms need

in certain places? to adapt to their
habitat to be able
to survive.

How animal’s body an adaptation is

habitat? find food, water,
mates, and shelter.
That was great!
Nice observation
students.

Now, let us proceed

with the discussion
proper. I know that
you already have
the idea about the
Body Parts of
Animals that live on
Land but let us
discuss the topic
further

(PRESENTATION
OF DISCUSSION)
5-10 G.EVALUATE All the information
minutes presented is
beneficial towards
your learning.
However, to test if
you really learned
from the discussion,
I want you to

activity)

(The Teacher show

suggested rubric for
scoring to the class)

H.EXTEND Alright, for you to

better understand
our topic,

A habitat is a place

where an organism
makes its home. A
habitat meets all the
environmental
conditions an
organism needs to
survive.

Some animals are

covered with fur to
keep them warm.
Others are covered
with feathers. Some
have smooth skins
for breathing like
worms. Most body
coverings of
animals are for
protection.

Animals have body

parts for moving like
legs for walking and
wings for flying.

Land or terrestrial
animals have lungs
for breathing.

GENERALIZATION Again, who among the place or

you can define environment where
habitat? a plant or animal
naturally or
normally lives and
grows

Very good! Now,

Can you give me at Horse

least 3 examples of Cow
animals that live on Dog
land?

Very good!
5 mins. VALUES Would it be possible No because their
INTEGRATION for these land body structures are
animals to live in adapted only to
other habitat? land.

An adaptation is a
way an animal's
body helps it
survive, or live, in
its environment.
