2.0. Work Methodology
2.1. Before installation
o Submitting drawings and construction plans.
o Submitting materials.
o Check the execution areas.
2.2. General installation
2.2.1 General
Installation of Manholes & Underground pipes shall be based on working
schedule and shop drawing that approved.
All material of manholes & underground pipes to be checked prior to laying, the
difference in material shall be replaced by new one.

2.2.2 Manholes & Underground Pipes Installation work.
Step 1: Preparing work
Material and sub-materials for work.
Barriers and warning sign shall be installed to separate working areas.
Measurement and marking the area which is excavated according to
shop drawings.
PVC sheet (for covering soil block when raining)
Pump (for taking out of water when raining when need)
Apply PVC Sheet to prevent soil or material spread to road or concrete
slab/gutter (If need).
Step 2: Excavating the ditch.
Excavation of ditch will be done by excavator machine or by hand.
The dimension of ditch suitable according to shop drawings.
Excavation of the ditch will be carried out each step
Re – check level and preliminary compacting bottom.
Step 3: Installation of Manholes.
Locate the manhole using lorry crane or crane to the designated hole and
then lowered into position without being dropped. Manhole should be
adjusted and level to suit finished level (refer to shop drawing).
Step 4: Laying HDPE pipes
Worker will lay underground pipes along the ditch.
Depend on location at site, depth of underground pipes is different (refer to
shop drawing).
Filling sand and compaction then laying HDPE pipe.
Distance pipe layer to pipe layer (See shop drawing).
Description how to working procedure:
Indicate working area (To prepare before working day).
Mark excavation area (To confirm with client).
Excavation (To work under the signal man's supervision).
Lay pipe beside excavation area (To cover head of pipe).
Lay pipe on bottom of pit (Checked level & scale follow shop drawing).

Note: If it’s raining on working time
Soil’s block will be cover by PVC sheet.
Water will be taken out of from the pump (If need).
Step 5: Backfill
After laying underground pipes, worker will backfill one more layer by
existing sand & compaction & water. (Checking follow shop drawing)
Next, one layer existing soil/sand compacted by compactor machine.
After compaction of the granular bed and surround or completion of
concrete surround, (haunching) the trench shall be back filled using
excavated soil free from all rocks, large hard on objects and builder
debris.
Back filling shall take place immediately after the specified operations
preceding it has been completed and shall be in layers of 150mm each
fully compacted over the full width of the trench. Compactor shall be
used to compact backfilling work.
Back filling with the approved excavated material in horizontal layers not
exceeding 200mm after compaction, up to the level of original ground
surface; each layer moistened or dried as required and thoroughly
compacted with mechanical tempers.
Description how to working procedure for backfill:
Backfill with sand & compacted (Checking follow shop drawings).

activity contributing to the end result.
Scenario’s that do not meet the approved criteria, as stated above, will be issued a
Non-Conformance Report to quantify and qualify corrective action by the
Contractor. All NCR’s issued will also address root causes of the non-conformity to
reduce the re-occurrence.
3.2. Critical works
Supervisor must check during the time installation of underground pipe to make
sure the technical and coordination are followed installation method.
The visual check shall be performed during installation of underground pipe.
3.3. Follow-up & Evaluation
If there was damage, non-compliance, etc. appropriate actions must be agreed and
taken to repair.
