BRIEFING
The briefing takes place early in the morning on July 14th in an unassuming warehouse in Mexico City’s industrial
district, just 48 hours after Doctor Levanti’s disappearance. The Agents have flown throughout the night, it is up to
the handler as to how the Agents have been summoned for this operation. Suggestions include a re-assignment for
military personal, a mysterious FedEx package in the mail containing a burner phone which subsequently rings or
maybe even a good old-fashioned kidnapping to transport to the briefing location. A-Cell has its ways.

The Agents enter the warehouse to find a table sat with enough chairs for the number of Agents plus one. There is
nothing else in the entire warehouse besides broken windows and pigeons in the rafters. Eventually, their attention
is drawn to the tapping of a cane as an older, one-legged, battle worn Handler slowly makes his way to the briefing
table. The Handler has the following information to impart upon the team, and it is up to you whether you read it all
at once or whether you pause to allow players to react.

“The Mayan civilization disappeared overnight. It’s something Doctor Ignacio Levanti was
famous in his field for researching. He is a British Expat living Mexico. He works as a
freelance archaeologist and occasional scientist KNOWN to Delta Green for his
breakthrough theories on said Mayan disappearance, and potential its link to the
supernatural. He’s done some work for us in the past as part of D-Cell… Which remains
classified intelligence by the way.”

“Doctor Levanti disappeared forty-eight hours ago. We’d been keeping tabs on him until
then. Flight records show that on June 20th Doctor Levanti took a trip to Guatemala. Word
in the international archaeological community was that a new chamber had been located
deep underneath an ancient temple. It appears that Levanti paid handsomely to have the
dig-site to himself, although the source of the money is in question and the Cartel have
been name-dropped on the intel reports.”

“This is where you come in. We don’t know what Levanti brought back with him, but we
think it might not have been what the Cartel would have wanted. On June 22 nd Levanti
returned. And on July 12th, he vanished. At the same time reports came in about a very
unusual drugs related death at a downtown Mexico night club.”

“A-Cell has been monitoring the situation, and now that enough warning flags have been
raised, protocol is to send a team in to investigate. Enter: You. Your standing orders are as
usual; identify the threat, contain or eliminate it, cover it up. We need you to check out
this death at Envy night club first. In the meantime, A-Cell will be researching Levanti’s
last known location. Take the burner phone. We’ll call you when we know more.”

The Agents are given a burner phone containing one number and advised to make only one phone call;
the call to say the mission is complete. They are then furnished with identification badges portraying
them to be investigators for Mexican Federal Ministerial Police, although these documents won’t
stand up to any more than casual scrutiny. They are also provided with transport in the form of a
tinted-window SUV, and the location of Envy nightclub.

HANDLER’S
HANDLER’S EYES
EYES ONLY
ONLY
Do not read this to your players. On June 20th, Doctor Levanti had been exploring newly discovered chambers deep
beneath Mayan temples in Guatemala. It was there that he uncovered something better left untouched. Ignacio
Levanti took a few specimens home for research. Namely an ancient statuette, hand carved by a Mayan thousands
of years ago, which had been coated in a mysterious black ichor like substance.

Levanti returned to Mexico City on June 22nd, to his apartment, and

had taken samples from the statuette, hoping to discover more
clues behind the disappearance of the Mayans. Levanti theorised
that the Mayans themselves had used this black substance to send
the majority of their civilization thousands of years into the future,
seemingly avoiding whatever catastrophic world-ending threat they
were facing moments before. Levanti, however, had fallen in with
the wrong crowd. He owed money to the Cartel who had “funded”
his research in the hope of finding rare jewels to sell on the black
market. Angry at the lack of such treasure, they forced their way
into his apartment on June 23rd and stole the majority of his
research from his latest outing.

Levanti managed to hide away a small statuette and his notebook

however. It was then that the criminals did what they did best, turn
a profit. The black ichor was experimented on and “sampled”. It
eventually turned into an as of yet undistributed street drug on
account of its ability to send the user on some sort of otherworldly
trip, only this trip attracted the attention of beings from before time
itself (unknown to anyone so far). Levanti, eager to pay off his debt
before the cost became his life, agreed to refine and improve the
drug as best he could. It was on July 12th that Levanti would be the
first to sample the drug. The drug which causes the user to
experience the very fabric of time itself differently… Levanti went
too far. He went all the way back. Back to the start of time itself. It
was there that the Hounds of Tindalos gained his scent and
potentially the scent of all mankind.

The
The Mysterious
Mysterious Drug Drug

HANDLER’S EYES ONLY

If a player comes into contact with the Black Ichor, or consumes it in any way, they will experience a drug “trip” of
somewhat epic proportions. The drug will cause the user to experience time itself differently. This can be at the
discretion of the handler but some suggestions can be that the user is sent flying back through time and becomes
witness to some of the biggest historical events of all time, or perhaps something subtler such as a brief vision as
they see themselves back in their own shoes in previous Delta Green scenarios. Or perhaps they see the future? It is
suggested to moderate the amount the player “sees” based on how much of the Ichor they came into contact with.
Either way, it attracts the attention of The Hounds of Tindalos. Have smoke slowly start to pour from the angles in
the room, and if the agents refuse to flee then they will eventually find themselves face to face with one of the evil
creatures, with many more about to follow. Full stat blocks for the creature exists at the end of scenario. They are
not a threat to be taken lightly.

Envy
Envy Nightclub,
Nightclub, 11550 11550
AvenueAvenue
Masaryk Masaryk
There has been a suspicious death in the male toilets of a popular local night club. When the Agents arrive, they first
need to negotiate a cordon that has been put in place by the local Police. A successful persuade check with the fake
ID provided should convince them that the Agents are working with the Mexican equivalent of the FBI and allow
them access. Or perhaps a bit of good old-fashioned bribery will suffice. Any subsequent use of the ID to local Police
following this initial check will be at -20% disadvantage.

The nightclub is closed and it is currently mid-day on the 14th by the time the Agents arrive. There are no members of
staff working and Police tape covers the door to the male toilets. The club is still dirty with glasses and bottles from
the night before.

Once inside the male toilets, the scene is gruesome and pitiful. A SAN 0/1 check is required for those not adapted to
violence for everyone that witnesses the corpse. The body is splayed out in a cubicle, half leaning on a toilet, and it
has been mangled. Flesh is hanging off and there appear to be strange, huge bite marks. Players inspecting this
closely will not be able to tell exactly what it was that caused this due to the extent of the mutilation.

A successful alertness roll will also identify smoke stains in all the corners of the room, a further successful alertness
roll will identify small, dried traces of a Black Ichor in and around the wounds on the body SAN 0/1 helplessness. The
toilet lid is closed and on the lid are a very small amount of a dry remnant of the same mysterious Black Ichor
substance.

5|Page BLACK GOLD

See MYSTERIOUS DRUG on page 4 if an Agent decides to touch it with their bare skin, it will be a very short flashback
experience to a recent event. Then, have the room very slowly start filling up with smoke with no discernible source
noticeable at this time.

THE WRITING ON THE WALL - On the walls of the cubicle are the usual graffiti, but perhaps more worrying is the
fresher scrawling in Latin America Spanish. An Agent who can speak Spanish can translate these. Among the
scrawling’s are as follows; “I see the World Trade Centre Falling”, “The Spanish lied to Moctezuma”, “Shackleton!
Help him!”, “COLD. ICE. EVERYWHERE.”

LOCAL POLICE/BOUNCERS – If the Agents wish to talk the local Police, a player proficient in Spanish can translate
that the Police are worried. This death appears to have been linked to a new type of drug that the cartel has
acquired from unknown sources. The local Police are worried that this will go ‘viral’ and that many more will die in
search of a cheap high. The local intelligence suggests that the cartel have the means to send this drug globally
within a matter of weeks. Nobody can explain the bite marks, nor do they want to talk about it. A very limited
number of Police have been allowed to see the corpse itself.

SUSPICIONS RAISED – If your Agents are taking too long snooping around in this night club, at the Handler’s
discretion you can introduce an encounter with the local cartel. This shouldn’t be enough to get them shot or killed,
but perhaps a nervous bartender or cleaner appears and informs them they need to leave as the “boss” is coming.
Or perhaps a shoot-out begins outside between the local Police and some cartel heavy guns. Either way, make it
clear that it’s time to leave. Their cover story will only hold up for so long after-all.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

A phone CALL
The burner phone rings. As soon as the Agents leave have it ring, or if they are taking too long, it could ring while
they are in there. It’s A-Cell. The conversation is kept short and sweet. The representative on the other end of the
phone doesn’t want to know what they’ve found so far. He simply has one piece of information for the players. They
found an apartment rented out by Doctor Ignacio Levanti.

The Agents are given the location for Ignacio’s apartment;

Apartment 525, Reforma House, Luis Moya, Mexico City, Mexico.

6|Page BLACK GOLD

DOCTOR
DOCTOR LEVANTI’S
LEVANTI’S APARTMENT
APARTMENT
The Agents arrive to a fairly modern apartment block. There is a pleasant little water fountain out the front. Levanti’s
apartment is number 525 up on the 5th floor. The Agents can access the communal lobby and elevator or stairwell
easily enough, however they will need to be creative when it comes to bypassing the lock on Levanti’s front door
without attracting too much attention from the neighbours.

Investigation of Levanti’s apartment will reveal a horrific scene. First and foremost, in the middle of the room is
Levanti’s corpse. The air conditioning is off. Flies have set in and the heat only intensifies the stench. Unless they are
already adapted to violence, all players must make a SAN 1/1D4 check upon entering the apartment.

LEVANTI’S CORPSE - Closer inspection of the corpse will reveal terrible bite and claw marks. Part of his face has been
clawed by some huge bear like creature and there is a nasty looking bite mark on his chest and on his leg. Players
inspecting this closely will not be able to tell exactly what it was that caused this due to the extent of the mutilation.
Players who roll a successful search roll will discover that there are no obvious signs of a creature entering or leaving
the apartment. Discovering this information will trigger a sanity roll against unnatural SAN 0/1. A successful
alertness roll will identify traces of a dried Black Ichor like mucus in and around the wounds on the body, SAN 0/1
for helplessness. See Mysterious Drug on page 4 if an Agent decides to touch it with bare skin.

THE NOTE & THE IDOL – There is a note on the coffee table and an empty zip-lock bag lies next to it [HANDOUT A]
The note reads, “Doctor Levanti, this is the latest iteration of the product. You will refine it and improve its purity
ready for mass production. Then, we’ll consider that all debts are paid.”
Next to the note is a small Mayan or
Incan statuette which appears to have
small traces of the same Black Ichor on
it. The Mysterious Drug rules again
apply if Agents touch this with their
bare skin,

PLASTER OF PARIS – This isn’t hard to

spot, if an Agent observes the room in
detail, they will see that odd moulds of
plaster of Paris (Gypsum Plaster) have
been inserted into all corners.
Anything with an angle or sharp edge
has been rounded off. All bar one
corner where it appears the plaster
didn’t take a hold and fell to the floor
below.

SMOKE STAINS – On a successful alertness roll, if the agents inspect the corner mentioned above, they will notice it
is heavily smoke stained as if there had been a fire in just that one corner. A further search roll of that corner will
reveal that there are no scorch marks. The rest of the apartment is fairly sparse however there are chemical test
tubes and apparatus discarded in the bath.
[Handler Note: These Smokes Stains are tell-tale signs a Hound has entered the room]

MOBILE PHONE – In Levanti’s clenched hand is a small, retro mobile phone which has some battery left. A player
who inspects it finds that Levanti placed a call late on July 12th at 11:03pm to a number simply titled “GB220”.
[Handler Note: Levanti Telephoned his other phone located in his Green Box and left a voicemail. This was Levanti’s
way of recording events but storing the recording outside of his apartment. He grew paranoid that others would steal
his research.]

OSCAR MARTINEZ
OSCAR MARTINEZ
Oscar is a friendly young Mexican male in his 20’s who lives directly across the hall from Ignacio Levanti. Oscar lives
alone but spends a lot of time with his new girlfriend elsewhere. It just so happens that Oscar was out last night but
returns home just as the Agents are finishing up and begins to unlock his apartment door. The Agents might wish to
speak to Oscar and ask him if he’d seen or heard anything. If not, have Oscar approach the Agents just as they are
leaving and ask if his neighbour is okay. Oscar believes them to be federal Agents of a sort and so treads with
caution, but he shows a genuine interest in the wellbeing of his old neighbour. If the players continue to dismiss
Oscar and don’t wish to talk to him, have Oscar confront them about the “awful smell” and tell them matter-of-factly
that he believes Doctor Levanti to be dead.

WHAT OSCAR KNOWS – Oscar gives the Agents a note kept safe in a drawer in his apartment. This note was given to
him by Levanti with instructions that if anything was to happen to him Oscar would pass it to the authorities. Levanti
gave Oscar a handsome down payment with a condition to never look at the contents of the note for fear of Cartel
involvement. Oscar dutifully hands it to the Agents.
It reads, “G.B 220. 19.4410184, -99.1936947”. If the Agents do a little research, they will discover that these are co-
ordinates to a storage facility in a notoriously dangerous neighbourhood in downtown Mexico City.
[Unit 220 is Levanti’s Green Box]

If Oscar is pressed for further information about Levanti’s

death, he doesn’t know much but can add one small detail.
Oscar was out for the last two nights visiting his girlfriend, but
he does inform the Agents that an old lady in the opposite
building is always sat at her window watching the world go by,
and that Levanti has previously had a disagreement with her
because he believed she was spying on him. Oscar suggests
that most people here turn a blind eye to one another,
however the lady in the opposite apartment block might be
worth speaking to.

If Agents look out of Levanti’s window, they can see the lady
sat in a chair near her window reading a book. They count up
and can identify by the windows that she is on the 5th floor and
seems to be the 3rd apartment along from the end. See
WITNESS: OLD LADY MARIA below if the Agents decide to visit
her.

Lady Maria
Speaking to OSCAR MARTINEZ will reveal the location of the ‘nosy neighbour’ in the apartment block across from
Levanti’s. If the Agents decide to follow up on this, they will meet Old Lady Maria. A curious yet skittish and
frightened old lady who lives directly opposite Levanti. She refuses to let anybody in but will talk to the Agents at the
door. She was home the night he died. She won’t be able to add much but will describe seeing an enormous shadow
in Levanti’s apartment just before it had completely filled with smoke. She trembles at the very thought of a fire in
the apartment block and shuts down, refusing to give the Agents any more information. If they press her further, she
starts yelling “EL DIABLO, EL DIABLO” at the Agents and slams her door shut.

BOX 220220
The co-ordinates OSCAR MARTINEZ that gives to the team lead to a U-Store facility in downtown Mexico City. It is in
an industrial district; metal shuttered doors lead into garages in a block tucked away beneath a freeway overpass.
With a little cash flashed and a successful persuade check, the Agents should be able to convince the minimum wage
counter clerk to give them the keys to storage unit 220.

HANDLER’S NOTE: Green Box 220 contains a few things the players should enjoy playing around with. Most
importantly however, it contains Levanti’s research journal and the co-ordinates to locate the ancient temple in
Guatemala. It is also the location of the recording Levanti made on his phone before he died. [HANDOUT D] details
the contents of the Green Box, it is suggested that this is given out once you have fully described it to the Agents in
order to assist them in keeping track of things. This is a very SAN heavy Green Box and it should take some time to
rifle through, experienced Agents will likely exercise caution when examining items but new players may learn just
how much you get burned when you play with (Eldritch) fire. So, have fun.

Descriptions in italics are for Handler’s eyes only.

▪ A biscuit tin which contains a toy brass crown

Identify which Agent has the lowest POWER rating. That Agent thinks that the biscuit tin is a safe and the crown is
made of solid gold, and they cannot be convinced otherwise - 0/1 SAN unnatural for that Agent

▪ A half-full bottle of cheap Tequila

▪ A normal "Get Well Soon" card, of the type bought at a drugstore for a dollar or two.
It's signed with three first names, each starting with the same letter as that of the current investigators' cell and
directed to a fourth. It's fairly obvious that this card is a remnant from a previous iteration of the investigators'
cell; if asked later, A-Cell flatly refuses to provide any information on what happened to them.

9|Page BLACK GOLD

▪ Levanti’s Research Journal. The journal contains pages and pages of notes made during his personal
archaeological excursion of the ancient temple. The final pages, however, will be the most interesting to the
Agents, other pages are torn out and seemingly missing.
Introduce [HANDOUT B] and [HANDOUT C].

▪ A 12-guage shotgun and a box containing just 10 slugs of ammunition.

▪ A small silver locket, containing the face of a young girl and an older woman, presumably the girl's mother.
Whenever this locket is picked up, the next time it is opened it will display the person holding it instead of the
mother. If the holder has never killed anyone, the other frame will be blank; if they have, it will be a picture of the
person they most recently killed, their expression locked at the moment of death. Seeing this is 1/1D4 SAN
unnatural loss (if no victim is displayed) or 1/1D4+1 unnatural (with a victim), with additional penalties tacked on
at the handler’s discretion for bringing up any specific trauma concerning the event.

▪ A mobile phone sits atop a cardboard box.

It is Levanti’s other phone, the one which he telephoned as a way of recording his experiment. It has a small
amount of battery life remaining and has 1 new voicemail message from July 12th. There are no outgoing calls and
only 1 incoming call which was the voicemail message.
If the players choose to listen it then Handout E applies. Afterwards, SAN 0/1D4 helplessness for all players who
listened to it.

▪ Operator's Manual: Machine Gun, 7.62MM, M240.

▪ A Ziploc bag containing a single 12-gauge shotgun shell and a sticky note saying "Emergency Use Only! Danger!".
Anyone opening the shell will find several thin layers of strangely shaped metal foil separated by glyph-covered
papers filling the top of the shell. The metal foils are a mixture of silver, gold, palladium and lead. Separating the
foils make the shell useless.
Firing the shell will create a 12' cone of collapsing non-linear space ahead of the gun, dealing 4d6+3 of damage to
anything in the cone (also ignoring armour). Unfortunately, a similar, though weaker, cone will extend 6' in the
opposite direction, dealing 2d6 to anyone behind the gun, including the shooter. SAN check for all who witnessed
this effect 0/1 SAN violence or helplessness.

▪ A large wall chart print-out of the periodic table. It has a note in the bottom left corner which says, “Single
Digit Elements Only?” [HANDOUT F]

▪ A 1997 Ordinance Survey roadmap of Greater London and the surrounding metropolitan area, UK
▪ A collection of confidential Police reports attempting to interpret a series of bizarre deaths among insane
asylum patients as the workings of a serial killer. In all cases the killer somehow entered the victim's cell
without any apparent breaches of security, brutally mauled the victim, and somehow fled without being seen.
In some cases, DNA was found not belonging to the victim. This DNA was noted to be a strange black-grey resin
seemed to have been applied to intentionally contaminate any samples.
Should a player mention that at or before this point in the game they are familiar with the Hounds of Tindalos AND
they read the documents, they will undoubtedly recognize the Hounds’ handiwork, and lose 1/1D4 SAN unnatural
through the sheer realisation that the creatures may be real and that this has happened before.

▪ An empty WWII era metal canteen with no lid.

▪ A map, including grid co-ordinates leading to the ancient temple in Guatemala

A sticky note attached to the map says, “THEY MUST BE STOPPED!”

▪ A large plastic evidence bag containing another, slightly smaller, evidence bag. There is also a small sticky note
on the large bag: “Yes, it’s the fucking evidence bag!”
Anything, including living flesh, touching the inside of the smaller evidence bag starts to rot/rust/corrode at a rate
of 1d4 HP each minute until removed from the bag.

The
The Ancient
Ancient TempleTemple
Once the players have obtained the notes and the map from Green Box 220 they might decide it’s time to go to the
temple. When they do, have them describe how the intend to arrive at the dig-site in Guatemala. They might take a
prop plane and land nearby, before heading in on 4x4s for example.

The temple itself is an ancient Mayan pyramid. Not quite Chichen Itza, a bit more worn down and reclaimed by the
jungle in places, but the broad shape remains the same. Following the exact co-ordinates, it isn’t hard to find the dig
site beneath the temple. It is quite far off the nearest road, and an improvised route has been hacked through the
dense jungle by Levanti’s previous dig team. On arrival the Agents will find that a small tunnel has been excavated
leading down to the chamber where Levanti made his initial notes. There are no guards in sight but equipment does
appear to have been dropped as if in a hurry. If they decide to head into this tunnel the Agents will eventually come
to a large wall, just as is described in Levanti’s diary. Any Agent will be able to feel a slight breeze between the bricks
indicating a further room hidden behind this wall. It is ancient and the stones are thick, any attempt to use
explosives will likely bring the whole temple down on top of the Agents. The only way in is to solve the puzzle set
before them…

A PROBLEM
A PROBLEM

On the wall are several small buttons. Each stone button seems to have a small stick figure on it. The button on the
far left has one figure, the next one along has two stick figures, the third one has three. This continues until the 9 th
button, which has nine sticks figures on it. Using Levanti’s diary, the agents can see the strange wording above the
door. It is carved into the rock surface underneath some very strange ancient symbols. It seems somebody carved
this in to the rock crudely with a knife, as a translation of sorts. One line is above the other.

“AcCePt SAlVAlTiON”
and
“HeS WAtCHInGe YOU”

Yes, the spelling is a little off, but that’s the nature of Levanti’s translation. As the handler, now is the time to ramp
up the pressure a little bit while the players try to figure out the solution in order to proceed. If the players are
dawdling, have one of them accidentally stumble into a statue or artefact and get some of the Black Ichor on their
hands or clothing. See MYSTERIOUS DRUG for information, but have them experience a small temporal vision of
some sort. Once their small ‘trip’ to the past or future has taken place, have smoke start to slowly pour from the
angles and corners of the room. That should hurry the players up! If enough time passes and the team still aren’t
making any progress, you can either have them face a HOUND OF TINDALOS or suggest they remember ALL the
items from within the Green Box.
11 | P a g e BLACK GOLD
A SOLUTION
The wording plays on the periodic table, hence the periodic table in Levanti’s green box. To successfully solve this,
the players will need to cross reference the letters with the periodic table to come up with a code. They need to find
matching the elements, and find the ones which have single digits only e.g C not Ac. They will then need to push the
ancient stone buttons in the correct order. Failure will just result in nothing at all happening, and taking too long
increases the risk of an encounter with something best left alone. Remember, it can only be the digits 1 to 9.

“HeS WAtCHInGe YOU”

Translating this along with the periodic table will reveal the code 2 6 1 8. This is the wrong answer. Inputting this
code will trigger a mechanism within the walls and Black Ichor will fall from a trap door above the players, ultimately
summoning the HOUNDS OF TINDALOS to attack them. Have the players roll Dodge to see if they can move out of
the way in time. Failed rolls mean exposure to MYSTERIOUS DRUG and any subsequent side effects as determined
by the handler. Three Hounds will eventually appear. If the Agents fail to kill the hounds, the scenario ends with their
corpses lost underneath the ancient temple, and A-Cell will have to send in another team to clean up their mess and
prevent the Hounds from wreaking havoc in our timeline. If the Agents survive their encounter, they are then able to
attempt entering the other code.

“AcCePt SAlVAlTiON”
This is the correct answer. Translating this through the periodic table will reveal the code 8 7. The Agents have a
choice on which code to enter and this will only add to the tension. Entering this code will cause the stone wall to
clunk and shudder and slowly slide apart as great stone doors reveal a small chamber therein.

AND THEY WILL BE REMEMBER ME

By now it is entirely possible that the Agents have accidentally summoned the HOUNDS OF TINDALOS. If no Hounds
have yet made an appearance in the temple, have all of the team make a d100 roll each. Pick the lowest, they have a
small amount of Black Ichor drip on them from a stalactite above, which triggers exposure to MYSTERIOUS DRUG.
They will experience a very minor time-space trip within their own minds before the corners of the chamber begin to
fill with smoke and two Hounds, slowly but surely, enter the same chamber as the Agents.

Within the final chamber is a single pedestal. On top of which resides a small golden, perfectly spherical crystal ball.
There is nothing else of note in this chamber. This room is where the Mayan oracles came to make their predictions.

Wielding the crystal will force all HOUNDS OF TINDALOS back through time as the Agent flies through eons and ages,
chasing them forcibly back to where they came from. As a handler it is your job to describe the glimpses of history
the Agent see’s as they undertake this impossible journey. The crystal will then seal the Hounds behind a yellow
impenetrable crystalline space time barrier back at the beginning of time where they belong, preventing them from
entering our space time ever again. The wielder of the crystal then has a price to pay. Have them roll 1D6 on the
following table to determine their final outcome.

1-2: The Mayans.

3-4: And they will remember me.
5-6: I’m back, but at what cost?

12 | P a g e BLACK GOLD
1-2 – The Mayans

From the point of view of the other Agents, the one who touched the crystal (and the crystal itself) is simply gone. As
are the hounds. For the rest of the players, the scenario ends here. Focus on their journey out of the temple and
subsequent reporting to A-Cell of a mission success and an Agent down. Think of the next part as similar to an end
credits scene… The wielder, having sealed the barrier, slowly opens their eyes and beholds their surroundings. As
their vision comes into focus a smiling figure approaches them. They are still underneath the temple, but in another
time. The figure is a Mayan priestess. She offers her hand to the wielder and leads them outside to the waiting
congregation who kneel before them in silent worship.

3-4 – And they will remember me

The Agent simply vanishes from the room, the crystal with them. For the rest of the players, the scenario ends here.
Focus on their journey out of the temple and subsequent mission completion report to A-Cell. The next part can be
played out like an end credits scene… The wielder vanished. The cell reported an agent missing in action in unknown
circumstances. Until one of the Agents notices something a few weeks later while conducting some research. A
newspaper article from July 1920 shows a black and white photo of a happy family in upstate New York. One of the
family members bears an uncanny resemblance to the missing agent.

5-6 – I’m back, but at what cost?

The wielder is yanked back through time all the way to the present day. Describe them briefly flying past the
dinosaurs, early man, the rise and fall of civilizations, both World Wars and finally the moments of the operation
leading up to this point. This comes at a heavy cost as the wielder must make a SAN check for 5/2D6+2 SAN. The
resulting SAN loss may result in an Agent breaking, but will almost certainly result in temporary insanity. Decide for
yourself what that means, a possible option is they are driven mad and attempt to attack their fellow agents
resulting in them requiring “subduing”, or perhaps they simply strip naked and assume a catatonic zen like position.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

THE CONCLUSION
There are several possible outcomes to this Night at the Opera. Once the Agents have located the chamber the
HOUNDS OF TINDALOS will inevitably be summoned for a final fight. If the Agents try to win by brute force, they will
likely have found they have all perished in the battle. This leaves it up to Delta Green to try to find some more
Agents urgently to put a stop to this new threat that has been unleashed.

If the Agents have survived and activated the crystal hidden in the final chamber, then they will have successfully
sealed the rift and banished the Hounds forever, effectively undoing the mistake that Doctor Ignacio Levanti had
made in the first place. The Agents can then report to A-Cell on their burner phone as to what had occurred. The
official cover story is distributed via social media news outlets. A new drug caused the deaths of several individuals in
Mexico, but law enforcement agencies out a stop to it before it could be mass-produced and managed to destroy
the lab hidden in the Guatemalan jungle. A British professor is believed to have fallen in with the cartels prior to his
death by natural causes.

What happens next is up to the players. The Agents could try to return to their day jobs as if nothing had happened,
or the Agents could take a prop plane up to the Caribbean coast and enjoy some sun, sea and snorkelling with a few
cocktails to hand. Either way, there’s time now.

Monster stats: A HOUND OF TINDALOS

It is rumoured in ancient history that these foul creatures resemble the appearance of a wolf. They have
glass-like plated armour which seem impenetrable by arrows or spears (there are no reports of bullets being
used against them). They have long, hollow tongues behind razor sharp teeth. The Hounds excrete a
strange black pus or ichor when feeding. They can materialize through a corner if it is fairly sharp (120° or
less). When a Hound is preparing to materialize, it produces smoke from the angle or approach before
crawling through in search of its prey. It is said that once a Hound scents it’s prey, it will pursue the victim
through time itself in order to feed upon them. A person risks attracting the attention of the Hounds by
travelling through time mentally of physically in any way other than the standard linear fashion.

STR 15, CON 20, DEX 20, INT 8, POW 10, CHA N/A
HP 15, WP 10
SKILLS Athletics 80%, Alertness 60%, Unarmed Combat 60%
ATTACKS Claw or bite 60%, damage 1D6+2
ARMOR 4 points of some sort of unnatural glass/plated hide
SANITY COST 1/1D4 (Unnatural)

HANDLER NOTE - The Hounds of Tindalos exist in the angles of time, and primarily reside in a place before
time existed. Some debate exists in the occult community as to whether it was in fact the old ones that had
trapped the foul beings there. If a person manages to travel back through the angles and curves, they will
likely be ‘scented’ by the Hounds. The Hounds are not good or evil, they just ravenously hunt their prey
through time in search of their next meal. Once scented, it is nearly impossible to escape them. Although
the further away in time the prey is, the longer it seems to take the Hounds to find them.
Unlike most other dogs, these Hounds do not hunt in packs and often prefer to hunt alone. However,
increased or prolonged exposure to the angles and curves of time may attract more than one of them at
once.

WEAKNESS - The Hounds cannot travel through curves, only angles. If one were to hide in a perfect sphere,
the hounds would be unable to find them. The Hounds are also frightened of the mysterious object hidden
beneath the Mayan temple. The strange spherical crystal has the power to fling them back through time at
terrifying speeds and seal them there. If exposed to it, the Hounds will instantly turn tail and run.

[HANDOUT B – LEVANTI’S JOURNAL (Strange Words)]

21st DAY OF JUNE

Noon – Finally, I’ve found the way into the chambers, deep beneath the Earth. In all
my years, I’ve never seen such a bizarre temple as this. The collection of artefacts is
most odd indeed. It would suggest a coming together of multiple ancient civilizations
over different periods of time? How is this possible? The proof I have so desired is
potentially laid here before me. I cannot contain my excitement. To finally prove that
the Mayans had not just vanished, but they time travelled far into the future to escape
their own demise. So close.

1pm -This charming little idol I have found seems to have some odd black ichor draped
upon it. The likes of which I have never seen before. Could be worth something?

1:30pm – Progress is halted. I have ordered my dig team to remain outside for now as I
ponder this next obstacle. A wall? It has bizarre little figures carved into square
panels, one, then two, then three of them, and so on. They appear to be buttons, a
combination lock perhaps? I can feel the air gently blowing between the bricks. There is
a chamber henceforth but protected by some ancient contraption.

3pm – Further study of the inscriptions on the walls. The base language of all is said to
be numbers. But what if they were wrong? All signs point to elements.

4pm – I still cannot progress deeper into the chamber. The final secrets await me, I can
feel it. Above the door I have translated words. A warning perhaps? Accept Salvation.
And… Hes Watching You. What does this mean?

5pm – Could it be AcCePt SAlVAlTiON and HeS WAtCHInGe YOU? The

spelling is wrong but… the combination seems so clear to me now, three or four numbers
derived from the wording, periodically. But which one is correct? I dare not risk
activating some ancient devilish trap.

[HANDOUT C – LEVANTI’S JOURNAL (Black Ichor)]

122h Day of July

The damned Cartel, damn them to hell, will not release me from
this infernal debt. The treasures I have returned with are far and
few between, and of little value to the collectors. They seem focused
on this black substance. I can find no good use for it, however
simply coming into contact with it causes one to have… Visions.
Flashes, if you like, of a different time.

They’ve been experimenting in their laboratory. The price I must

pay has now been finally explained to me. I must be the first to
sample this new ‘drug’ and help refine its psycho inducing
properties. Is my research really reduced to this?

It dawns on me that this stuff is of Mayan origin. Perhaps I shall

be the first to consume it indeed. Perhaps I shall be the one who can
unlock the secrets of a long-lost ancient civilization. Perhaps, I
will go where they went and escape all this madness? One can only
dream. I await delivery of the package tomorrow night, and I
intend to record my experiment in full. I will not let this damned
excursion have been for nothing. I will leave my journal at 220
and return whence my experiment is complete.

[HANDOUT D – The contents of Green Box 220]

GREEN BOX #220

▪ A biscuit tin which contains a toy brass crown.

▪ A half-full bottle of cheap Tequila

▪ A normal "Get Well Soon" card, of the type bought at a drugstore for a dollar or two.

▪ Levanti’s Research Journal. The journal contains pages and pages of notes made during his personal
archaeological excursion of the ancient temple. The final pages seem to be of the most relevance. Other pages are
torn out and seemingly missing.

▪ A 12-guage shotgun and a box containing just 10 slugs of ammunition.

▪ A small silver locket, containing the face of a young girl and an older woman, presumably the girl's mother.

▪ A mobile phone sits atop a cardboard box. It has one bar of battery left and displays 1 new voicemail message
from July 12th.

▪ Operator's Manual: Machine Gun, 7.62MM, M240.

▪ A Ziploc bag containing a single 12-gauge shotgun shell and a sticky note saying "Emergency Use Only! Danger!".

▪ A large wall chart print-out of the periodic table. It has a note in the bottom left corner which says, “Single Digit
Elements Only?”

▪ A 1997 Ordinance Survey roadmap of Greater London and the surrounding metropolitan area, UK
▪ A collection of confidential Police reports attempting to interpret a series of bizarre deaths among insane asylum
patients as the workings of a serial killer.

▪ An empty WWII era metal canteen with no lid.

▪ A map, including grid co-ordinates leading to the ancient temple in Guatemala

▪ A large plastic evidence bag containing another, slightly smaller, evidence bag. There is also a small sticky note
on the large bag: “Yes, it’s the fucking evidence bag!”

[HANDOUT E – The last words of Doctor Ignacio Levanti]

This handout isn’t meant to be handed out. Sounds odd right? To achieve the best effect, it is better to
roleplay this as the telephone voice recording. You can read the below text aloud as if it was Ignacio
Levanti’s voicemail, or feel free to improvise something similar enveloping past events that your group has
played in (for example a glimpse of the player actions in a previous scenario). The general idea is that
Levanti tries this drug and is then flung back through time all the way to the point where he alerts the
Hounds.

LEVANTI’S VOICEMAIL

“This is my official test of the new product. I am recording this in order that I may review my experience
and assess whether the desired effect has been achieved. Perhaps even present this as evidence to them. I
suppose I must do this, this thing required of me. Or else to hell with it all. Heaven knows that there are
fates worse than death that can be installed upon one so foolishly wrapped up in affairs as I, and I pray
God that I shall not loose my way. I have already taken the substance prior to initiating this call and… It is
beginning to dark…

Everything around me is… Is fading out, swiftly. I am losing my sight. I cannot see what is around me in the
room… But… But…

GOOD GOD! I can see everything! I can see every human life that ever existed on this wonderful Earth! I
see Men, Women, Children of all ages and all races. I cannot possibly begin to describe how it feels. I see, I
see… War. Love. Fire. Oceans. I can see a great steam train rolling through the countryside, The Flying
Scotsman it says on the front. I am on the ships now and I observe as I find the very coast of America itself,
the unwelcoming native’s eye me with suspicion.

I walk now through the narrow streets of Florence as the peasantry and rabble move swiftly around me. I
am in Greece suddenly. Slaves pass before me as the flower girls scream at me in adoration and the
athletes jostle and bustle to be the first to show me their physical prowess.

I stand alone for months. Nay, years, as I see ancient stone buildings being erected before my very eyes. I
see the shape forming, it is a Pyramid! I watch as the great Pharaohs of old are transported on the golden
carts to approve of the workmanship at the cost of many lives.

Now I see, yes, I see caveman drawing on walls, paintings of mammoths with crushed beetles. I see the
beginning of the race of men, I see the great plains of Africa and the migration.

I perceive everything simultaneously and from all sides. I exist in all men and women and they exist in me. I
perceive the whole of space and time as it flows gently around me and through my very soul. Everything
exists in a single instant for me.

There must be more… I NEED more! Now, if I strain, I can see. Yes, I can see curves and angles. I will push
through them and they, they multiply playfully about me. I can see great segments of time through…
Curves. There is curved time… And angular time? I am going back, further back.

I can see enormous reptiles stalking the Earth! And dismal lakes of fetid bacteria swarming together. And
now the reptiles are gone… No animals remain. But beneath the waters dark forms swarm together. Now
they are single cells.
19 | P a g e BLACK GOLD
All around me now are… Angles. I am afraid but, I shall press on. There are depths of being here which
mankind has never fathomed. I am approaching… Oh! The horror! I will go on. I will see. What. Lies.
Beyond.

There are… Things here which I cannot quite see. These things move slowly through the angles around me.
Dark shapes in the depths of time itself. They are moving. They… I think they have seen me! They are
slowly turning toward me!”

[THE TELEPHONE RECORDING IS INTERRUPTED BY A LOUD STATIC ELECTRIC NOISE. CONTINUES BELOW]

“I think. I think that I am back in my apartment.

There… Are… No words to describe these foul creatures. They are mentioned I remember, in ancient
tablets. It was required that I soar through time and the knowledge leaps into my mind eagerly like a new-
born pup. I fly through the ancient library of Athens and eons of knowledge fill my mind. The Greeks had a
name for them. They are hungry. They are all the evil in the universe encapsulated. They are the Hounds of
Tindalos!

For a moment I stood there, on the other side. I saw them… And they saw me! I shuddered as I felt their
breath on my face. I turned and I ran screaming! Screaming through thousands and thousands of years. But
they scented me, I fear. I have truly gone too far. They thirst for us, I fear. THEY MUST BE KEPT OUT!

I… I theorise that they can only reach us through angles. I must eliminate all angles from this room. I shall
plaster up all of the corners and all of the crevices tonight. I will make this room resemble the interior of a
sphere, and I shall remain in this room. When they discover that their scent only leads through curves they
will surely turn and flee.

There is no time to waste, I must set about this task at once. It is… No… It is beginning to get dark.”
