GENERAL INFORMATION:

The following is the recommended minimum Service Department Shop Equipment list.
Please use this list to periodically check and update your shop equipment inventory.

Note: Additional types of shop equipment may be required depending upon an individual service
department’s need or local regulations.

Description ON-Hand

Arc or mig welder (250 amp)

Gas welder (oxygen & acetylene)

Steam cleaner / Pressure Washer

Lift truck hoist or scissor lift (10 ton capacity minimum) (Optional)

Overhead crane (4 ton capacity) (Optional)

Differential gear oil dispenser

Drill press

Bench grinder

Parts cleaner tank

Work benches

Vises (10 inch)

Air compressor, with air lines, connector, etc. (5hp minimum)

Pneumatic grease pump or equivalent

Hydraulic press (10 ton)

Cable or chain hoist (2 ton)

Wheel bearing packer

Rigging chains and slings with rating tags

Safety cones

Engine repair stand

Grease gun (cartridge type)

Safety jack stands (20 ton) or load blocks (wood)

Bottle jack (10 ton)

Test weights (.5 ton, 1 ton, and 2 ton)

Extension cord drop lights

Hydraulic forklift jack (10 ton)

Simpson Multimeter (260 or equivalent)

Digital multimeter (10M/OHM)

Handyman tester

Inductive DC amp probe (600 amp)

12 volt battery/charging system tester

Diesel tachometer

Gasoline/LPG engine tachometer (digital)

Tap and die set (1/2 inch and larger)

Engine oil pressure gauge (1-100 psi)

Hydraulic flow meter (1-10 gpm) (should have gate valve)

Hydraulic flow meter (10-40 gpm) (should have gate valve)

A variety of pressure gauges for transmission and hydraulic pressure checks
