1. Objective
This procedure provides a standardised framework for the control of excavation, earthwork and
filling to ensure compliance with conditions of contract and contract specifications. All excavation,
earthwork and filling will be carried out in accordance with the specification detailed in the project
contract documentation.

In any circumstances where specifications are not provided or they are in any way incomplete,
the matter shall be referred back to consultant for additional information.

2. Resources
Contractor shall employ the following machineries for the purpose of this work. Refer to enclosed
catalogue.
i. Hydraulic Excavator DX225LCA - Refer to Appendix 1.
ii. Hydraulic Excavator SH330-5 - Refer to Appendix 2.
iii. Tractor Ford 661O - Refer to Appendix 3.
iv. Vibratory Compacting Roller Sakai SV90 - Refer to Appendix 4.
v. Vibratory Compacting Roller Volvo SD100DC - Refer to Appendix 5.
vi. 10-Wheeler Lorry.
vii. Bulldozer.

3. Land Surveying
Prior to any commencement of any physical works, professional land surveyor shall be appointed
to carry out demarcation works and establish a few temporary bench marks (TBM) on site. Upon
obtaining all necessary survey data and clearing of site, a joint survey shall be conducted with
consulting engineer to check and confirm existing ground levels (OGL).

4. Site Clearing, Grubbing And Stripping Topsoil


4.1 This work shall consist of clearing, grubbing and stripping topsoil in the areas
within the limits of Works designated hereunder and/or as shown on the
Drawings and/or as directed by the Superintending Officer (S.O.), and of
clearing only in other areas designated hereunder and/or as shown on the
Drawings and/or as directed by the S.O., all as specified herein and as required
by the S.O.

4.1.1 Site Clearing


Clearing shall consist of cutting and/or taking down, removal and disposal of
everything above ground level, including objects such as walls, fences, drains and
other obstructions, except such trees, vegetation, structures or parts of structures
and other things which are designated in the Contract to remain and to be
protected. The material to be cleared shall include but not necessarily be
limited to trees, stumps (parts above ground), logs, brushwood, undergrowth,
long grasses, crops, loose vegetable matter and structures (except those
structures whose removal or clearance is otherwise provided for in the
