1. INTRODUCTION

For this assignment is social emotional development is increasingly understood as a

crisis in child development. This is because children are formed through a development in
the learning process. From during early development, babies show a sense of security in
their family when their needs are met by the environment. Besides, social emotional
development refers to the child's ability to have knowledge in managing and expressing
emotions completely both positive and negative emotions, able to establish relationships
with other children and adults around them, as well as actively explore the environment
through learning.

2. PURPOSE OF THIS ASSIGNMENT

The purpose of this assignment is for the development of Parenting styles that are
increasingly becoming a crisis in dealing with the problems of special children. This is
because not all children are born perfect. In addition, the development of each child
should be more observed, because they have their own advantages. Next, we must
show a positive attitude that can give them the confidence to establish relationships
with other children and the surrounding situation.

3. SYNOPSIS OF THE MOVIE

a) HOMELESS TO HARVARD
- Liz Murray is the second of two siblings and she has an older sister named Lisa
Murray. Liz's mother (Jean Murray) and father (Peter Finnerty) are heavy drug
addicts. Liz's father was diagnosed with AIDS but had a genius mind because he
always watched Jeopardy. Apart from being a drug addict. One day Jean throws
a tantrum because Liz and Lisa don't give her money to buy drugs.

Besides, this family had to move out of the apartment because they couldn't pay
the rent. Liz, Lisa and Jean moved to Pops house, Jean's father, while Peter
became a homeless person. Then Liz found out that Pops was not a good
grandfather, Pops had actually committed the crime of sexual harassment on her
mother and aunt causing Liz to run away from home. At the age of 15, Liz
became a homeless person along with her school friend named Chris.

One day Liz got the news that her mother died. In America at that time, anyone
who died of AIDS. After the death of Jean (her mother), Liz decided to study hard
and she continued her studies in Chelsea, Manhattan. In addition to being a
student, Liz is also a part-time employee at the New York Public Interest Group.
However, he also got excellent results. Lastly, and at one time Liz tried to
participate in an essay contest and she also won a contest that offered a
scholarship to Harvard University.

b) TAARE ZAMEEN PAR

- Taare zameen par is a film that tells the story of an 8 years old dyslexic child
named Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi . Ishaan is a child who does not know how to
follow his school activities well, he is label as a stupid and mischievous child. Not
only that, Ishaan also has difficulties in recognizing letters and does not know the
difference between “d” and “b” or “p”. He also has trouble distinguishing syllables
that sound almost the same like “top” and “pot”. Not only that, he also often writes
letters upside down. Due to Ishaan’s deficiency, he often gets bad grades in
school and never does his school work so the teachers often get bad grades in
school and never does his school work so the teachers often punish him.
However, Ishaan has an advantage which is painting.

Besides, Ishaan’s brother, Yohan is a very smart and intelligent child. Ishaan’s
mother often teaches him the lessons he has learned at school but Ishaan will
always forget the lessons that have been given so that over time his mother is
tired. Ishaan’s father is a strict person and often compares Ishaan and his
brother. In the end, Ishaan was put into a dormitory because he was found
skipping school and walking alone around the city. But there was no change even
though Ishaan had moved to the dormitory. In fact, he was even more often
punished by his teacher for not following the rules. Ishaan actually tried but the
more he tried, he was more confused because he felt all the letters dancing in his
head. Because of the pressure he received from the teacher and ridicule from his
friend Ishaan did not want to draw anymore.

Then comes an art teacher as a temporary substitute named Ram Shankar

Nikumbh (Aamir Khan). This new teacher has a new way of educating, Ram
makes them think outside the box and imagination. Every child in his class
responded with great enthusiasm except Ishaan. Ram then tries to understand
Ishaan and the problem he is facing. Ram realises that Ishaan suffers from
dyslexia which is a difficulty in reading, writing and counting. Ram noticed
Ishaan’s condition because he used to suffer from dyslexia and has a high level
of intelligence. If not honed with patience and skill in educating, then the child will
continue to be entangled in ignorance in reading and writing. He exemplified
world figures who suffered from dyslexia, thus inspiring Ishaan to learn. With time,
Ram’s patience and care worked in boosting Ishaan’s level of trust. He helps

Ishaan overcome his academic problems and regain his lost confidence. He is
also able to invite his students to understand and cross the ocean of knowledge
with a pleasant process.
Ram has also made Ishaan’s parents aware that their son has dyslexia. After
meeting Ishaan’s parents, Ram then requested the principal of the school that
Ishaan be given facilities and not expelled. Where he will help Ishaan to be able
to read and write. Then to increase Ishaan’s self-confidence and show Ishaan
strengths in drawing, Ram held a drawing competition for teachers and students
at the hostel.

In the end, Ishaan was crowned the winner. The result of his drawings and also
Ram Shankar Nikumbh’s drawings were used as the school’s yearbook
magazine. At the end of school, Ishaan’s grades are no longer low and he is able
to compete with his friends.

c) HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2

- In the story of High School Musical 2 talks about the friendship that has been
starred by Troy, Gabriella, Corbin, Taylor, Sharpay and Ryan. Troy and Gabriella
are a couple, but things start to change since they work under Sharpay that
summer vacation. During the summer holidays, Troy was offered a job at the
Sharpay and Ryan Country Club, but Troy also got a job from Mr. Thomas is the
Manager of the Country Club for his friends. But Sharpay was angry with Mr.
Thomas (manager) because he accepted all the students from High School East,
but it was all planned by Sharpay's mother because her mother wanted Sharpay
to spend the holidays with her school friends but Sharpay only wanted to spend
time with Troy during the summer holidays.
However, Sharpay invited Troy to sing together on stage but Troy refused
because singing on stage with various styles is not him because he is more
comfortable singing in a simple way. However, Sharpay did not give up and gave
Troy a high-profile job such as teaching people to play golf and Troy was even
put on expensive designer clothes and shoes. In addition, Sharpay has
introduced Troy to rich people with high powers. In other words, Sharpay has
offered that he can help Troy to get a basketball scholarship. At that moment,
Troy started to change his mind and accepted Sharpay's offer and he would sing
with Sharpay.
After that, his friends saw that Troy started to change and he went out to play
with famous basketball players and hang out with rich people. Gabriella is upset
with Troy's change, Gabriella should have gone out to eat with Troy because he
promised to eat with her but Troy broke his promise because he was busy serving
rich people. Chad, Taylor and his other friends feel that Troy is starting to change
and is not the same Troy he used to be. When Troy accepts Sharpay's offer, they
will sing together and Ryan is side lined by his own sister which upsets Ryan.
Ryan and Gabriella started getting close as well as Troy's friends, but it made
Troy feel left out and he started to feel lonely. In the end, Gabriella and Troy
broke up
Jump in to the conclusion, Troy regrets that he threw away his friends in order
to get a scholarship from Sharpay. He had met his friends to apologize for his

 actions, Troy had sung with Gabriella on stage and all their friends had danced
together. That night, they all went out and looked at the stars together.

d) OCEAN HEAVEN

- This movie is about youngsters with unique needs. Ocean Heaven is a movie
about a man who has a child with autism (July 2010). This fictionalised account of
a real-life event portrays a father's struggle to teach his kid with autism. The
father, Mr. Wang (Jet Li), is claimed to be in excruciating discomfort, and his age
is only discovered after a little period of time. While his son (Wen Zhang), who is
between the ages of 17 and 19, has an autism specialist, Since his wife passed
away, Mr. Wang has always looked after and provided for his son Dafu. Even
while he was working, he always brought Dafu along.

Although Mr. Wang is ill, he is unable to receive intensive care at the hospital
since he must work and care for his son. So when Mr. Wang considered what
would happen to Dafu after his death, an issue developed. Pak Wang tried to
drown himself in the sea in a desperate attempt to murder both Dafu and himself.
The attempt, however, was unsuccessful because Dafu, despite having weights
on his body, miraculously managed to swim and save his father. In order to take
care of his kid after his death, Mr. Wang requested assistance from social
foundations and agencies ranging from orphanages to mental hospitals.Dafu,
sadly, cannot be accepted by any university because it does not meet their
requirements. Fortunately, Mr. Wang had a chance encounter with the previous
principal at Dafu's old school during that trying period. Mr. Wang believed that
Dafu should remain here after his passing because Liu's mother, the former
kepsek, had just started an autism organisation.

Dafu cannot be made to feel at ease in a new environment by just turning your
hand. Dafu is still accompanied by Pak Wang to the dormitory of the autism
foundation. Dafu is still accustomed to being himself, and Mr. Wang is aware that
he has not yet adapted to being independent. As a result, Mr. Wang started
teaching Dafu how to be independent, starting with doing his own laundry, making
his own breakfast, getting on and off the bus properly, and washing the floor at
Mr. Wang's job. The middle-aged guy had intended Dafu to take over his duties

 after he left. Additionally, Mr. Wang offered Dafu's ideas so that he wouldn't be
perplexed at a later time.

5. PLOT OF THE MOVIE

a) Homeless to Harvard

his poor academic performance led his parents to send him to a boarding school.
Ishaan's new art teacher, Ram Shankar, suspects that he has dyslexia and helps
him overcome his disability.

Rising action - Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi hates school and fails every test. He
found all subjects difficult. Because of his inability, he was belittled and scolded
by his teachers and classmates.

Climax - At the boarding school, Ishaan sank into fear and depression because
he was far from his family, had no friends, and was afraid of facing a disciplined
and unforgiving school.

Falling action - Until finally there is a new teacher named Ram Shankar
Nikumbh (Aamir Khan). This teacher found something different from Ishaan. With
patience and hard work without giving up, this young teacher accompanies
Ishaan. Ram Shankar Nikumbh trained Ishan little by little to read, write, draw and
also calculate slowly. Until the end, Ishaan was able to understand the lesson and
become like other children.

Resolution - In the end, Ishaan was crowned the winner. The result of his
drawings and also Ram Shankar Nikumbh’s drawings were used as the school’s
yearbook magazine. At the end of school, Ishaan’s grades are no longer low and
he is able to compete with his friends.

c) High School Musical

i. Exposition
- East High School students listen to a wonderful summer memory
story from Ms. Darbus before the end of class, Troy saw Gabriella
and then they smiled at each other. Suddenly Chad, Taylor,
Martha, Gabriella, Sharpay and the other friends mentioned
summer impatiently until class time ended. After that, they sang
the summer time song with happiness because the summer
vacation has started.

ii. Rising Action

- Sharpay brought Troy to sing a duet together but Troy reject.
Later, Sharpay offered a basketball scholarship to Troy but Troy's
heart changed and finally Troy accepted the offer. Gabriella, Taylor
and Chad find it strange to see Sharpay always with Troy, they
worry that Troy will change and leave his friend.

- Troy meets a rich man and teaches him how to play golf, Chad
comes to give him food but Troy wants other food and treats Chad
badly. Chad is angry and tells Taylor and Gabriella that Troy is like
someone else and has changed. It made Gabriella sad because
what Chad said was true, Troy broke his promise to Gabriella
because they were supposed to have lunch together.

iii. Climax
- Sharpay is angry with Ryan because he joins Gabriella and her
friends to practice singing and dancing for the night performance,
Ryan ignores Sharpay's words and leaves her. Then, Sharpay

 ordered to Mr. Thomas (manager) that junior workers (Eastern
High School students) to work all night during the show and they
are prohibited from performing.

- Taylor found a letter from Falton, they were told during the show all
the juniors had to work and no one was doing the show. Later,
Gabriella was very angry and confronted Sharpay because it felt
unfair. After that, Gabriella was upset with Troy because he
changed and he broke his promise to Gabriella and he even left
his friend.

iv. Falling Action

- Troy realizes what he's been doing all this time is wrong because
he forgot his friends and didn't keep his promise to Gabriella.
Then, Troy apologized to Chad and his friends for treating them
badly. Troy meets with Sharpay to sing together but Sharpay must
allow Troy's friends to join the show.

v. Resolution
- Troy sings on stage alone, suddenly Gabriella comes to the stage
to sing with him happily. Then, all their friends went on stage and
danced together. At the end of the story Martha, Ryan, Chad,
Taylor, Troy, Gabriella, Zeke, Sharpay, Jason and Kelsi go outside
to enjoy the night view full of stars.

d) Ocean Heaven

Exposition - Sam Wong/Wang Xincheng (Jet Li) as he works his job in an

aquarium and struggles to look after his 21-year-old son with autism, Dafu/David.

Rising action - he multiplies his efforts to help Dafu learn basic tasks in order to
care for himself, as well as searching for a home for him, before he passes away.

Climax - Sam eventually dies, and his funeral is attended by close friends and
family. Dafu waves good bye to the sky.

Falling action - He cooks by himself, knows how to ride the bus, and picks up
the phone when Ling Ling calls, and working at the ocean park, a place Mr. has
opened the doors for Dafu at any time of the day

Resolution - Dafu is seen doing some of the things that his father struggled so
much to teach him with success.

7. MORAL VALUES

a) HOMELESS TO HARVARD

- For short story video from “Homeless to Harvard” that we can learn about we
can learn how we should keep trying even if there are obstacles that come
our way. Nevertheless, based on the short story of the video. We should also
continue to strengthen ourselves even without our parents. The lesson I have
learned is to keep doing something until it succeeds. Keep planting in your
heart to be determined to succeed even though at the beginning the life we
have been living is very bad. Not everyone lives the same life as Liz Murray
(reality character) but with the spirit we have in ourselves we can do it if we
really want to achieve good success in ourselves.

b) TAARE ZAMEEN PAR

- It is a story about a kid’s life and his relationship with his art teacher, by
changing his life through caring and understanding that with caring can
actually do a lot and not judge someone for we do not have the rights to
judge others.

- Never give up in life even if someone degrades you to not move forward.
You should never mind the negatives and mind positives. Never take a
chance of underestimating someone who may not be good at one thing but
will surely be better at something else.

c) HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL

- First of all, the moral value that I got in the movie High School Musical
2 is not to be selfish for self-satisfaction because people who are self-
important will regret their own actions. Next, we should try to solve the
problem without running away from the problem because there will be no
solution if we do not try to fix our own problems. In addition, we must keep
our promises because if we break our promises, someone will feel hurt and
sad because of our actions. Last but not least, we must lower our ego to
begin forgiveness because if we do not act, others will misunderstand and
distance themselves from us.
At the end of the moral value of this entire movie, we should not be so
self-important that we are willing to throw away our own best friends. We
must think before making a decision, even if there is someone who helps us
but we must think of another way without throwing away our good
intentions. Therefore, if we love our friendship, we should take good care of
them and take care of their hearts without breaking their hearts.

d) OCEAN HEAVEN

- Giving trust is important for children who have deficiencies like in the movie
a father who has faith that his son is capable of being independent,
then the father believes that his son can be taught to live a normal
life.

- The next moral values are a human relationship with oneself, namely
sincerity, patience, despair, hard work, responsibility, never giving up, and
independence. This is because his father never gave up on teaching his
special son to lead a normal life despite the fact that his father was suffering
from a serious illness.

 - The opposite moral value is humanity, which is politeness, love, discipline,
protectiveness, and loyalty. Through this story we can see those values by
paying attention to every word, situation and actions in the movie from the
beginning to the end of the story.

8. CONCLUSION

In conclusion, this task is not only to see the movie in a casual way, but it can
give more or less the same moral values based on each story in the movies, it seems
to teach us not to give up easily in doing something and strive to achieve success.
Besides that, we should not want to belittle or look down on others. At the same time,
this movie teaches us to be confident in doing something so that we can achieve
everything we want. And lastly, we must correct every situation so that no one else
will be hurt by our actions or words.
