Detailed Lesson Plan 4

The lesson plan details a science class that will teach students about the respiratory system. The class will begin with an opening prayer and review of what students already know about the respiratory system. The teacher will then present slides and a video showing the parts of the respiratory system and their functions. Students will participate by answering questions and doing an activity where they match system parts to their names. To assess learning, students will answer questions about the respiratory system's function, main parts and importance of care. The lesson aims to teach students to identify respiratory system parts and their functions.

TEACHER'S ACTIVITY STUDENT'S ACTIVITY

4.1 Introductory Activity Good morning Ma'am!!!

Good morning Clas!! Before we start our lesson, let us pray first. One student will volunteer to lead the prayer.
3 minutes Who wants to lead the prayer?

4.2 Motivation Review the concept of respiratory system; Definition of respiratory system, Some students will share prior ideas/knowledge about
10 minutes its parts and corresponding function respiratory system.
4.3 Analysis Discussion Proper: Presentation of Slides with video and illustration of a
respiratory system. Teacher shows a picture of respiratory system and its
parts and asks if they know it.
20 minutes

Probable Answer: A little mam. Respiratory System is

Alright class, are you familiar with the respiratory system of our body? Are
the system responsible for our breathing. Yes mam. But
you familiar with some of its parts?
just a few of its parts.

There are several parts of the respiratory system, each working together
alllowing us to breathe. The main parts include:

Mouth and nose: Openings that pull air from outside your body into your
respiratory system.

Sinuses: Hollow areas between the bones in your head that help regulate
the temperature and humidity of the air you inhale.

Pharynx (throat): Tube that delivers air from your mouth and nose to the
trachea (windpipe).

Trachea: Passage connecting your throat and lungs.

Bronchial tubes: Tubes at the bottom of your windpipe that connect into
each lung.
Lungs: Two organs that remove oxygen from the air and pass it into your
blood.
Diaphragm: Muscle that helps your lungs pull in air and push it out.

Ribs: Bones that surround and protect your lungs and heart.
Alveoli: Tiny air sacs in the lungs where the exchange of oxygen and
carbon dioxide takes place.
Bronchioles: Small branches of the bronchial tubes that lead to the alveoli.

Capillaries: Blood vessels in the alveoli walls that move oxygen and
carbon dioxide.
Lung lobes: Sections of the lungs — three lobes in the right lung and two
in the left lung.
Pleura: Thin sacs that surround each lung lobe and separate your lungs
from the chest wall.
Cilia: Tiny hairs that move in a wave-like motion to filter dust and other
irritants out of your airways.
Epiglottis: Tissue flap at the entrance to the trachea that closes when you
swallow to keep food and liquids out of your airway.
Larynx (voice box): Hollow organ that allows you to talk and make sounds
when air moves in and out.
4.4 Abstraction
Since we already understand the lesson, let us summarize it. Can anyone
share with the class what you recall form our discussion?
Some students will share their ideas.
10 minutes For your further understanding of the topic, I will show you a video
presentation.
4.5 Application
We will have an application of what you learned. I will show you an
illustation of a respiratory system then one by one the students will stick Students will actively participate.
10 minutes
the name of the parts.
4.6 Evaluation Directions: Answer the following questions comprehensively.
1. What is the function of our Respiratory System? (5pts)
2. Give atleast 5 parts of our respiratory system and its functions.
(5pts) 3. How can we take care of our respiratory system? (5pts)
4. Why do we need to take care of our respiratory system? (5pts)
Kindly get a sheet of paper and answer the questions.
10 minutes 5. Why is respiratory system important in our body? (5pts)

4.7 Assignment Have a further reading on the parts respiratory system and the importance
of knowing its parts.
