number which expressed a quotient,in which the
numerator is divided by the denominator.
Very good!

For example,If a pizza is divided into two equal Half of the whole pizza
parts, then each part is equal to?

Correct

How about if we divide a slice of watermelon into

three equal parts then each part is equal to? 1/3rd of the whole
Very nice answer!

5.Motivation

Class can you give me the fraction for the shaded

part in each picture.

Yes ma’am

Maam in the first row we have

2/4
2/5
1/3
1/4

In the second row;

2/10

Very good class!

Now which are those are numerators?

The numerators in first row are:2,2,1 and 1
The numerators in second row are:2,3,1 and 4
While in the third row are:5,1,2 and 2
Very good,How about the denominator?
Those are 4,5,3,and 4 in first row ,
10,8,2 and 5 of the second row and 8,4,3, and 3
in the last row.
Very nice answer!
Is the numerator less or greater than the Numerator is less than the denominator

2.Discussion
After we tackled the fractions, now we move on to
its kind.
We have Proper Fraction,Improper Fraction and
mixed number.

When we say Proper Fraction,it is a fraction in

which the numerator is less or lower degree than
the numerator.

3 - Smaller
5 – Larger

Improper Fraction,is fraction where the numerator

is greater than or equal to the denominator.
7 – Larger

8/4
3/1
And last, what is the mixed number? 6/2

Is a combination of a whole and part of a whole.

Very good!

Using the flashcard with

fractions(Proper,Improper and Mixed number).
Choose three pupil leaders to hold the signs
which is the flashcard.
Let pupil group themselves into three by
groups, let them form their lines at center.
The teacher flashes cards and the first group will
go to the pupil leader to give the answer for the
card.
Once finished anwering, they will go back to their
own seats.

While Mixed numbers is a fraction which is a

combination of a whole number and a proper
fraction is called mixed numbers.

Did you understand class the different meaning of

each kind of fractions?
Yes maam
