Getting your e-NP’s updated to their latest editions

Click on the chapter that best describes your situation:


1. How to get e-NP data using the internet
The computer where e-Reader is installed has direct access to the internet.
e-Reader is updated directly on this computer.

2. How to get e-NP data from the UKHO’s public FTP site
The computer where e-Reader is installed has no direct access to the internet.
I usually copy update files and new edition e-NP’s to this computer with a USB stick, CD or
DVD.
How to get e-NP data using the Internet
(This requires a direct internet connection)
Click on “Load e-NP’s“ to begin the process of accessing the data to view ADMIRALTY e-NPs. Click on the
“Next” button to select which e-NPs you would like to download.

You will then be asked to select the communication method. Select “Internet” so that it is highlighted in pale
blue and select the “Next” button.

The e-NPs which have been purchased and require data will be highlighted in light blue. To deselect an e-NP,
scroll to the Publication number and click on the title of the book. After selecting the e-NPs for which you want
to download the data, click on the “Next” button to continue.
Note: Users that would like to download data for all e-NPs can do so by using the “All e-NPs” button.

On the following screen click “Load e-NP’s” to download the e-NPs.


After a few moments, you should receive the “e-NP(s) successfully loaded” message.

Click on the “Finish” button.

Note that when the internet connection is interrupted or is of poor quality, the download will fail.

In this case, simply try the procedure again.


How to get e-NP data from the UKHO’s Public FTP site
(For computers that do not have direct internet access)
You can also download the e-NP’s from the FTP site using Internet Explorer. The e-NP’s will then
need to be placed on a CD, DVD or USB stick.

On the Media being used (CD/DVD/USB), create a folder called “Publications”. (Any other folder
name will not work)

You can get to the FTP site by opening your internet browser and entering ftp://ukho.gov.uk/ in the
address bar.

You will be asked to log in here. You can use these credentials to get access:

- Username: ukhopublic
- Password: Public12345

Go to “Digital Product Updates”, “e-NP”, “Publications”

Once you can see all the e-NP’s listed, you will need to click on the menu named “Page” on the top
right tool bar (located along side “Tools” and “Safety”).
Then select “Open FTP site in Windows Explorer”.

A new window will appear and you will be asked for a User name: ukhopublic
and Password: Public12345 and click on “Log On”.
This folder will contain all the e-NP’s.
Using your right mouse button, click on the required e-NP and select “Copy to Folder”.

Save the e-NP to the folder called “Publications” on the Media (CD/DVD/USB)

Insert the Media (CD/DVD/USB) into the PC that needs this new edition e-NP.

Open the e-Reader, go to “Tools” and select “Load e-NP’s”.


Click on the “Next” button and select “Media”.

Click on the “Next” button and select the e-NP you wish to load.

You will see a light blue border around the e-NP once selected.

Click on the “Next” button.

Click on the “Browse” button and select the drive where you have saved the downloaded e-NP.

Then confirm by clicking on the “OK” button.

Click on the “Next” button.


Click on the “Load e-NP’s” button.

After a few moments, you will receive the “e-NP(s) successfully loaded” message.

Click on the “Finish” button.
