Lesson 5-If Clause

This document provides instruction on the grammatical pattern of an "if clause" followed by an imperative sentence. It discusses the social functions of this pattern, including giving commands, requests, and advice. It also analyzes the text structure and linguistic features. Specifically, it notes that the "if clause" can use simple present tense and the imperative consists of a base verb form or auxiliary verb with a negative. Examples of each are given. Exercises are then provided to have the reader practice forming sentences using this grammatical pattern.
