COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
I. TITLE:
POOR WASTE MANAGEMENT DISPOSAL: HOW, WHAT, AND WHY?
Theme: “Plastik ay Iwasan, Sitio Lugue ay Ingatan.”

III. RATIONALE:
The community of Sitio Lugue, Purok 2, Brgy. Tacad, Basud, Camarines Norte has
been dealing with poor waste management disposal. According to United Nations
Environment Programme "Poor waste management disposal, which includes
everything from non-existent collection infrastructure to inefficient disposal,
contaminates the air, water, and land. Open and unclean landfills can infect people,
spread disease, and lead to the poisoning of drinking water". Also, extreme climate
change is currently being experienced as a result of poor waste management
especially, plastic wastes. Decomposing garbage releases harmful greenhouse gases
into the atmosphere. Storms and typhoons are the result, among other unfavorable
weather effects. All environmental issues, including acid rain, violent hailstorms, and
global warming, can be categorized as active thermal pollution. As a result, poor
waste management disposal could harm Sitio Lugue's natural beauty and spread
disease throughout the community.
In order to contribute to the importance, conservation, and sustainability of the
environment, this project will aim to minimize waste in the community, to educate
people about poor waste management disposal, how to help protect their hometowns
with proper waste disposal, and how to properly dispose their garbages. Through
lectures, clean-up campaigns, and other events that will be held in their barangay with
the help of volunteers, Grade 11 Fortitude students, and HUMSS Club Officers of
Basud National High School.
IV. OBJECTIVES:
To teach and educate the participants about poor waste management disposal
and how it affects their environment.
To reduce plastic wastes around the community.

The chosen members of the Planning Committee is the ones who will be responsible
for handling, accounting, and budgeting the funds gathered.
IX. EXPECTED OUTPUT:
After the said project, the proponent expected to accomplish the objectives.
Especially, its main goal which is to educate the citizens of Sitio Lugue about the poor
waste management disposal that is present in their community, how are they going to
dispose and manage their garbage, and to develop a unity, cooperation, and discipline
throughout the community.
X. METHODOLOGY:
The “POOR WASTE MANAGEMENT DISPOSAL: How, What, and Why?” should
be conducted with the help of Barangay Tacad Council. In line with this project a
specific selected members and committee are the ones to lead and conduct the project
that is composed of Clean-up campaigns, Seminar/Lectures, Documentations, T-shirt
Goving, Monitoring, and Evaluations.
The participants and volunteers of the said project will be registered in the registration
form and will be monitor by the selected members assigned to ensure the safety of
every individual. The project is open for 15 years old to 55 years old only (senior
citizens will just be considered if it is confirmed that they are still able to do hard
physical works).

XI. EVALUATION:
The level of effectiveness of the said project will be measured through the impact of
the activities to the citizens and environment of Sitio Lugue. It is expected that the
committee of the said project is going to submit accomplishment reports of the project
conducted.
