Question 1: Identify the premises and conclusion of each of the following arguments: (6)
1) Freedom of expression is essential for a democracy because it gives citizens the right to
criticize those who are in power.
Conclusion:-Freedom of expression is essential for democracy.
BECAUSE
It gives citizens the right to criticize those who are in power..PREMISIS.

2) Logic teaches students how to think for themselves. It helps them develop their critical
thinking skill. It gives them the ability to analyze and evaluate arguments. I think it should
be taught in schools.
Conclusion;-i thin it shoud be taught in school

3) It is true that we haven’t encountered any aliens so far. But NASA estimates that there
could be nearly 11 billion earth-like planets in our own galaxy. And there are 2 trillion
galaxies in the observable universe. So there is a good chance that intelligent life exists
elsewhere in the universe.

Clearly, all cricketers are corrupt.

government. Now, Zaid Hamid is a respected political commentator. Therefore, what he
says must be true.

3) I know so many people who have seen ghosts. Clearly, ghosts exist.

4) Every time Ahmed watches a cricket match, Pakistan loses. I can only conclude that
Pakistan loses because Ahmed is watching. He brings bad luck. I’ll ask him not to watch
tomorrow’s match.
