EJERCICIOS MECANISMOS - Javier Fuentes C

This document contains 10 problems related to position, displacement, velocity, and acceleration of mechanisms. The problems involve determining positions, displacements, velocities and accelerations of various linkage mechanisms through graphical and analytical methods. Solutions are to be completed using concepts like relative motion, instant centers of rotation, and vector calculations. The student is asked to solve the problems, sketch kinematic diagrams, and compare results between calculation methods and CAD software.

the hydraulic cylinder. Then reposition the links as the platform is raised to 40 in. Determine the
amount that the hydraulic cylinder must extend to accomplish this movement.

of the clamp surface as the handle rotates downward, 15°.

1.8. The mechanism shown in Figure is the driving linkage for a reciprocating saber saw.
Determine the configurations of the mechanism that places the saw blade in its limiting
positions.

1.9. Graphically position the links for the compressor linkage in the configuration shown in
Figure. Then reposition the links as the 45-mm crank is rotated 90° counterclockwise.
Determine the resulting displacement of the piston.

1.10. Graphically position the links for the shearing mechanism in the configuration shown in
Figure P4.7. Then reposition the links as the 0.75-in. crank is rotated 100° clockwise.
Determine the resulting displacement of the blade.

2.2. For the compressor linkage shown in Figure, use the relative velocity method to graphically
determine the linear velocity of the piston as the crank rotates clockwise at 1150 rpm.

2.3. A kinematic diagram of a slider-crank mechanism is shown in Figure. At the instant shown,
VA = 380 ft/s and VB = 400 ft/s. Graphically determine the relative velocity of point A with respect
to pointB. Also, determine the angular velocity of link 2.

2.4. In the design of a timing mechanism, the motion of the pin A in the fixed circular slot in

the position for which θ = 30°.

2.5. For the shearing mechanism in the configuration shown in Figure, use the relative velocity

at 100 rpm.
6

{WO-1C = π/3 rad/s}; {AB = 175 mm}; {O2A = 100 mm}; {BC = 220 mm}; {O1C = 75 mm};

{O1O2 = 200 mm}

2.8. For the shearing mechanism in the configuration shown in Figure, use the relative velocity

counterclockwise at 80 rpm.

2.9. The device in Figure, is a sloshing bath used to wash vegetable produce. For the
configuration shown, use the relative velocity method to graphically determine the angular
