Solutions
1 The thematic knight sacrifice 1.Nd5! gives white excellent compensation.
2 1.Nc6! dxc6 2.dxc6+ and cxb7+-, If 1…Bxc6 2.dxc6+ and Qxd6. If 1…Qe8 2.Nxe7

3 With 1.e4!! The key idea is to eliminate the f5 bishop and trap the black queen
with Rb1. After 1…Bxe4 (if 1…Nxe4 2.Nxd5 Rc8 3.Bb3 white is clearly better)
2.Nxe4 dxe4 3.Rb1 Qxa2 (3…Qa3 4.Rxb5!+-) 4.Nc3 e6 5.d5+-.
4 With 1.b3! Black can´t take 1…cxb3 2.Qc5 Kd8 3.Qd6 and Nf6+-. Black plays
1…Rg4 2.bxc4 b4 3.Qe2 and White is clear better.
5 1.Rc3! Nc4 (if 1…Qxc3 2.Qd8 mate) 2.Qf4 with a winning advantage for White.
6 1…Qa5 with the idea to transfer the queen to the h-file, if 2.e3 Qg5 and Qh6.
7 With the exchange sacrifice 1.Nxb7! Bxb7 2.Rxb7 Nxb7 3.Rxb7. The c6 pawn is
lost and e6-a6 are weak - White gets a decisive advantage.
8 No, better is 1.Nd2 Qxc3 2.e4 with compensation for White.
9 1…e6 2.dxe6 Qxe6+ 3.Qe2 Qxe2 4.Nxe2 Nc6. Black has full compensation for the
pawn.
10 1…f6! 2.gxf6 Bxf6 and Black has very good compensation for the pawn.
11 1…f5!! gives Black very good play, opening lines and diagonals for his pieces after
2.gxf5 (2.exf5 Nf4! is similar) Nf4! 3.Bxf4 gxf4 4.Kg2 g6! with a dangerous
initiative. Black won the game.
12 Develop the knight with 1.Nc3! after 1…Nxd4 2.Nxd4 Qxd4 3.a4!, with the idea of
Nb5. White is clearly better and has a strong attack.
13 1.c5! with the idea of Bc4. 1…bxc5 2.Bc4 Re7 3.Bxf6 gxf6 4.dxe5 and White is
better.
14 1..b5! supporting the c4 knight. Black is better.
15 1.d5! exd5? 2.Bxd5 with an edge for White. Better is 1…Na5 with an equal game.
16 The moves 1…Nc2! 2.Rb1 Nd4! give Black very good compensation after 3.Nxd4
