“MODERN DANCE COMPETITION”

Guidelines:

1. Each group shall be composed of a minimum of 5 dancers up to a maximum of 10


dancers. Members of the groups may be composed of all males or females, or any
combination thereof. Three (3) points are deducted if there are excess or deficient in
number of participants.

2. The group must be at the contest area on time. Failure to come on time will receive
1 point deduction to the total score.

3. Order of performances will be based on the number they had picked prior to the
contest.
 
4. Groups must bring the music of their choice in a flashdrive or cellular phone (with
Bluetooth). It should be submitted 1 hour prior to the competition. There sould be a
back-up copy in case the music fails to play.

5. Music should be wholesome and lively and must not contain any subliminal,
sexually suggestive, and vulgar lyrics/language.

6. Participation in the event is entirely at the dancers’ own risk. Performance of


dangerous choreography will not be reflected favorably in the scoring.

7. Use of props will be allowed as long as it will not cause any delay in the program and
any harm to the performance of other groups.

8. Choreography should not be vulgar and must not contain any subliminal or sexually
suggestive act.

9. Attire may include accessories such hats, caps, gloves, scarves, jewelries, etc. Removing pieces of


clothing during the performance is allowed provided that it is not offensive or out of character.
Appropriate clothing should be observed throughout the competition.

10. Failure to comply with any of the foregoing rules and conditions will result to
disqualification.

11. Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.

Criteria for Judging:

 Performance – 40%
 Choreography & Originality – 30%
 Theme & Music – 20%
 Costume and Audience Impact – 10%
Total 100%
