Criminals used to be able to carry out horrible acts of violence without fear of repercussions because they
knew they could do it on other people’s land. Modernism, however, brought about the creation of regulations
like the one that deters international crimes. To prosper and foster positive connections with surrounding
nations or allies. If a particular criminal commits a local or transnational crime in a country, it may be possible
for that country to obtain the extradition of that person. Additionally, in order for the extradition to be made,
there must first be a diplomatic agreement or relationship between the country whose extradition is requested.
Crimes that include more than one nation in their conception, execution, or consequences are referred to as
transnational crimes. These crimes stand out from other crimes due to their transnational nature, which presents
particular challenges in identifying their causes, creating preventive measures, and putting in place efficient
adjudication processes. Transnational crime also has a significant negative economic impact on the state’s
economy and that of its citizens, as it reduces tax revenues and job opportunities.
Illegal commodities, illegal services, and infiltration of business and government are the three (3) main
areas of transnational crime. They manufacture, move, and sell illegal commodities; examples include drug
trafficking (such as opium, cocaine, Kush, and meth), currency counterfeiting (such as the US dollar or the
European euro due to their strong values), and illegal arms trade (it was even estimated that approximately 1
billion US dollars were illegally sold). The second category includes illegal services including human
trafficking and commercial prostitution (Venezuela was ranked as one of the worst countries for human
trafficking). The infiltration of the government and business is the final factor (fraud, racketeering, money
laundering, and corruption).
Whether victims are from the developing world or purchasers are from wealthy countries, transnational
crime has many negative repercussions on people’s personal security. It affects state security as well as the
political, economic, and social growth of states. These crimes are as horrible as they seem because they make
the victims’ life miserable and leave them in a state of shock because the culprits get away with their crimes
unpunished.
