Chapter 2 Stats Project
This first graph is a histogram, showing the frequency distribution between each
age group of professional gamers. By looking at the graph, it can be seen that
there are less people in the 70+ range which is at the far right making this graph
more skewed left. It also looks a little mound shaped.
By looking at this stem and leaf display, one can deduce that most of the gamers
are individuals in the 50’s - 60’s range, less so above and below. This display is
also very similar looking to the histogram seen above.(Key: 7I3)
This frequency table shows that there are gamers ranging from as young as 46 to as
old as 73. The frequency is the amount of times that the number (age) appears in the
data set (all of the ages of all of the gamers).
This is a relative frequency histogram. It uses the relative frequency instead of the
frequency or cumulative frequency. It shows in a smaller graph the frequency of people
compared to age. In this situation, relative frequency can be defined as the number of
times an age appears divided by the total number of ages in total.
This graph shows the ages from highest to lowest, the game played and the frequency
in which they appear. It also displays the percentage of people to the cumulative
frequency.
This graph shows the cumulative distribution compared to the age of the gamers
but in a line graph. Toward the end of the line, it begins to plateau (flatten out).
This is a time series graph that shows what their ages were and when they were born.
As you can see the older they are the earlier they were born.
This is a circle graph in which we can see the age group distribution of professional
gamers. According to this graph, there are more professional gamers in the 50’s and
60’s range than any other, similar to what is seen in the stem and leaf plot above.
The topic of this report was The Ages of Professional gamers from different countries.
The first thing that was done was a data set was discovered. Then a link to the source
of information was instead at the top of the page and here. Then a google sheet was
created and in it, all the information needed to create graphs was listed. Overall, all of
the information gathered has shown that there are not many professional gamers of
very old age, it is mostly middle aged individuals. The data also shows that to be
considered one of the oldest, it is getting very uncommon to be higher in age and still
actively play games. In the future, it is likely going to be much more common for older
generations to play video games.
