INTRODUCTION OF COMPONENTS

 Internet of Things (IOT):

The main goal of using IoT is to provide analytics, controlling and tracking
capabilities to a system, so that users would be able to control and monitor their use and
performance in real time. These devices establish a communication network over the internet
to provide information what they collect from the sensors or to allow other systems to act on
it. Building automation with IoT thus provide remote controlling and data analyzing feature.
The proposed system uses Thingspeak cloud platform and ESP8266 Wi-Fi module to send
data to internet through router.

 ARM Controller:
The LPC2148 ARM-7 controller is chosen for this project because this controller is
smaller in size and has lower power consumption, operating voltage range of 3.0 V to 3.6 V. It
can support 16-bit/32-bit ARM7TDMI-S, 45 fast GPIO lines, and low power real-time clock
provide UART and I2C communication protocols.

 Wi-Fi Module:
The ESP8266 Wi-Fi module is used to transmit sensor data to the cloud wirelessly
ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. It consists of inbuilt Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n GPIO, TCP/IP protocol
stack, and I2C/ UART for this project the ESP8266 ESP-12E module by Ai-thinker and only
Rx pin is used to send data to the cloud. It connects access point of wireless network i.e.; the
wireless router uses the SSID and password of the network.

 PIR Sensor:
The occupancy in room is detected using pyroelectric infrared (PIR) sensors are
used. In this paper used PIR sensor has 15m, 110 degree of detection range. It works on 12V
DC power supply. It is much sensitive to its detection range and produce relative output
signal. When it detects motion, the ARM-7 controller is programmed to turn on the room
appliances.
 LUX Sensor:
GY-30 is digital lights sensor module based on BH1750FVI chip, works on power
supply 3V-5V. This sensor is used to measure incident light on it. It provide wide sensing
range from 0lx to 65535lx with built in 16bit analog to digital (AD) converter. It works on I2C
communication protocol.

 RTD Sensor:
For the operation of fans and AC resistance temperature sensor PT-100 is used. The
output voltage is proportional to the resistance value of PT-100 the output voltage is fed to
ARM-7 controller with temperature on voltage and current of PT-100 temperature sensor. As
per set prescribed temperature value the fan will start to rotate when the temperature above
preset value and turn off below the preset value.

 Relay:
24V relays are used to trigger ON/OFF electrical appliances controlled through ARM-7
controller board. After analyzing various input parameters ARM-7 controller board generate
output signal to trigger on/off respective office room appliance.
