RESEARCH

This study investigated the effects of fermented plant juice (FPJ) made from banana blossoms and malunggay leaves on the growth of pechay plants. FPJ was prepared by fermenting banana blossoms or malunggay leaves with molasses for at least one week. Pechay seeds were planted and watered daily with either FPJ, plain water, or no treatment. After one month, plants watered with banana blossom FPJ showed the most growth, including tallest height and largest leaves. However, nine of the seventeen pechay plants died overall. The study concluded that banana blossom FPJ most promoted pechay growth and development compared to malunggay FPJ

Effects of Banana Blossoms and Malunggay FPJ on Pechay Growth Performance

Introduction

Background
Good nutrition is essential at all stages of a child’s life to ensure that they grow, develop,
and learn to their full potential. Especially when it comes to safety, plants in pots are a big
assistance. The plant is shielded from being easily trampled and blown away by the wind by the
pot. Current food systems, including production, farming, processing, and global supply chains,
have a massive impact on our planet, contributing to climate change and endangering the
environment.

FPJ is high in both micronutrients and macronutrients. The juice is also high in
microorganisms, which provide strength to animals. It consists of plants that are actively
growing that must ferment in a minimum of one week with the aid of molasses that will act as
the fertilizer to act as an instant source of energy for plants and encourages the growth of
beneficial microorganisms. Plant shoots are difficult to dissolve in water or oil, but they can be
done with a small amount of alcohol. FPJ is a fermented plant sap and chlorophyll extract. It is a
nutrient-dense enzyme solution full of microorganisms like lactic acid bacteria and yeast that
energizes plants and animals. FPJ is used to treat crops. “The balance is maintained By
encouraging the growth of Naturally occurring indigenous micro organisms (IMO)”, cultivation
of IMO was covered In a previous publication (Park and DuPonte 2008).

Obejectives

At the end of this investigation, the researcher is supposed to find out which Pechay
samples among the watered with plain water (control group), watered with FPJ Banana
Blossoms (T1) and watered with FPJ Malunggay leaves (T2) showed the following:

a. The tallest plant

b. The largest leaves(Perimeter)
c. The largest plant
d. The highest number of leaves
e. The healthiest leaves
Scope and Limitations

In this experiment the growth of pechay using FPJ made from Banana Blossoms and
Malunggay Leaves are observed. This experiment was conducted from 1 months to 2 and half
months at the observation place in the backyards. Observation was conducted after 18 to 46
days. Data analysis used only simple averages for making the conclusions.

Importance of The Study

It aids in enhancing the soil’s physical, biological, and chemical properties. The purpose of
this study was to assess the growth rate and yield performance of pechay, applied with two
various types of Fermented Plant Juice as organic fertilizer, and to ascertain the impact of FPJ in
terms of plant characteristics.

Materials and Methods

Preparation of FPJ
It consists of plants that are actively growing that must ferment in a minimum of one week
with the help of molasses that will act as the fertilizer to act as an instant source of energy for
plants and encourages the growth of beneficial microorganisms. A 200 gram banana blossoms,
a net to separate the rocks in the mixture, and sinkers. 200 grams ofMalunggay leaves, 100
grams of molasses, and blossoms. The researcher put on gloves before beginning the FPJ
production to prevent contamination and filth. Before adding the leaves to each container, the
researcher first cut the kakawate and malunggay leaves and weighed them for 200 grams.
Second, the researcher combined the molasses with the chopped banana blossoms and
malunggay leaves and thoroughly mixed it before adding the leaves .The researcher then added
some rocks as sinkers and a net to the container. The researcher then closed the lid on the
container after wiping away extra dirt to prevent contamination. Last but not least, the
researcher labeled the container with the name of FPJ, the day it was manufactured, and the
anticipated fermentation date. Within a month, the FPJ are anticipated to ferment.

Germination and Propagation of Pechay

The pechay plant was planted by the researcher in black soil. The researcher used a
repurposed container to start the seeds growing. After two weeks, it was transferred to black
bags, ten pieces per group (T1, T2, control group), and placed in a partially sunny region where
it wouldn’t perish from too much rain. It was routinely cultivated and had twice-daily irrigation.
Observation and Data Analysis

With regard to pechay plants, the fermented plant juice made from banana blossoms leaves
(T1) was more successful in promoting growth and development than the other two groups.
The fermented plant juice from malunggay (T2) is the second most effective. Comparable to
that of the malunggay fermented plant juice group, pechay plants in the control group have
similar growth and development.

Results and Discussion

The health of the plants is not very excellent. While others are quiet thick, some are fairly
thin. Thin leaves are slightly greener than other leaves that have pest bites but are still greenish
in color. Nine of the seventeen pechay plants died. Four from FPJ Malunggay, two from FPJ
Banana Blosssom, and three from the controlled group.
The lack of sufficient sunshine exposure may have contributed to the plants’ sluggish growth,
which is why they are still not ready for harvest. For pechay plants to grow quickly, the weather
between December and January is not the best. When the school years arrived, it was also not
frequently cultivated.
Conclusion and Recommendation
Following 30 days of propagating pechay using FPJ made from banana blosssom, FPJ made
from malunggay leaves, and water, the researcher could only draw the following conclusions;
•The tallest plant came from the one watered with FPJ from Banana Blossoms
•The largest leaves came from the one watered with FPJ from Banana Blossom
•Still not weighed because the plat is still not on its harvesting state
•The highest number of leaves per plant came from FPJ from Banana Blossom Leaves and
FPJ from
Malunggay Leaves with maximum of eight leaves
•The healthiest with green and vibrant color are observed in each group FPJ from Banana
Blossom, FPJ from Malungay Leaves and Control group

Practical/Realistic Recommendation

•I advise placing the plants in a location with direct sunshine.

•I advise using the fermented plant juice made from kakawate leaves on other plants to
promote height and leaf growth.
•I advise giving the plants more frequent attention and cultivation.

ABSTRACT
Growing plants is greatly aided by using fermented plant juice as an alternative to
fertilizer. It can provide the plants additional nutrients and accelerate their growth.
Finding out whether the fermented plant juice significantly affects plant
development is the key goal of this investigation. The ingredients required to make
FPJ are rocks, containers, banana blossom and malunggay leaves, molasses, and
gloves. It is sufficient to use a recycled container to start the seeds before moving
them into black bags and daily watering them in organized groups. Three plants
from the control group, two from the FPJ banana blossom, and four from the FPJ
malunggay leaves each killed 9 of the 17 pechay plants that were planted. FPJ made
from banana blossom performs better f or observation and analysis than FPJ made
from malunggay plants.
