PROPOSAL ON
MAHALLAH SAFIYYAH CELEBRATION OF IIUM 40th ANNIVERSARY (PHASE 1) -
CENTRAL FACILITIES MURAL PROJECT
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In the name of Allah, The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah,
Lord of the universe; Praise and Salam upon His Final Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H)
The purpose of this proposal is to seek approval from Student Programme
Approval Committee (SPAC) members towards approving the programme, MAHALLAH
SAFIYYAH CELEBRATION OF IIUM 40th ANNIVERSARY (PHASE 1) - CENTRAL
FACILITIES MURAL PROJECT. This is the Phase 1 of a series of programmes at
Mahallah Safiyyah to celebrate the 40th anniversary of International Islamic University
Malaysia in 2023. Phase 1 of the series seeks to express appreciation for two islamic
Islamic figures, the namesake of Mahallah Safiyyah - Safiyyah binti Abd Muttalib Al
Hashimiyyah RA the paternal aunt to Rasulullah SAW and sister to the companion
Hamzah Ibn ‘Abdul Mutallib RA and Safiyyah binti Huyay Ibnu Akhtab the wife to
Rasullullah SAW a noble woman renowned for her beauty.
2.0 BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAMME
This programme is a collaboration between Mahallah Safiyyah Representative
Committees and the students of LE4600 (English for Occupational Purposes) from the
Centre of Language and Pre-Academic Development - CELPAD. In continuation of our
previous programme of Beautification of Mahallah Safiyyah that took place in December
2021, we are coming up with a new beautification project to paint murals as a celebration
of IIUM 40th anniversary.
This project aims to liven up the Central Facilities building of Mahallah Safiyyah,
specifically focusing on the Gazebo area and the kiosk waiting area. The residents of
Mahallah Safiyyah may benefit from the conducive compound for relaxation and study
purposes. Apart from that, these main areas of Mahallah Safiyyah may provide a positive
impression to visitors on the work of art done by Mahallah Safiyyah Residents who are
mostly students of Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED). This
programme may increase awareness on the objectives of IIUM along with emulating
values and characterictices associated with both Islamic figures in our jihad to being
exemplary women.
3.0 OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME
The objectives of the programme are as follows:
i. To promote participation of students in conducting voluntary projects for better
engagement in the IIUM community.
ii. To create a conducive ambience for residents.
iii. To instill gratitude whilst expressing creativity.

achieve the goal. Developing a partnership with LE 4600 students will aid in
