BC welfare schemes implemented by YSRCP govt.
In Andhra
(BC Sub Plan, Budget 2022-23)
● Andhra Pradesh government had initiated a historic act of setting up 56 BC
corporations and the appointment of 728 BC leaders, from 139 castes, in the posts of
Directors and Chairman.
● Like no other government, Andhra Pradesh had made laws implementing 50 percent
reservation for BC, SC, ST, and Minorities and women in all nominated posts and
contracts.
● During the composition of the State cabinet, 70 percent of posts were given to BC, SC,
ST, and minority leaders.
● 50% of YSRCP MPs in Rajyasabha are from Backward classes.
Schemes:
● An amount of Rs.29,143.05 Cr., is allocated for BCs in the state budget for financial
year 2022-23.
● YSR Pension Kanuka (8411.36 Cr.)
Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced a flagship programmes of YSR
Pension Kanuka for Old age persons, Widows, Single women, Aids Patients, Dialysis
Patients, Disabled Persons, Fishermen, Toddy Tappers, Traditional Cobblers, Dappu
Artists.
● Various Backward Class Corporations ( 2924.68 Cr.)
● YSR Rythu Bharosa Yojana (1352.25 Cr.)
○ Financial assistance is being provided to BC farmers/Landless tenant farmers
@ Rs.7500/- per year per family from the budget of the Government of Andhra
Pradesh. (+ Rs.6000 Central share = Rs.13500 in total)
● Construction of buildings and Community hall for BCs. (125 Cr.)
● Assistance to MAHATMA JYOTIBA PHULE ANDHRA PRADESH BACKWARD CLASSES
WELFARE RESIDENTIAL EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS SOCIETY (MJPAPBCWREIS)-
(269.69 Cr.)
● Assistance to college hostels for BC students (131.2 Cr)
● Through AmmaVodi, the government provides financial assistance to each mother or
recognized guardian in the absence of mother, who is below poverty line household,
irrespective of caste, creed, religion and region to enable her to educate her
child/children from Class I to XII (Intermediate Education) in all recognized
Government, Private Aided and Private Unaided schools/ Jr. Colleges including
Residential Schools/Colleges in the State
Other schemes includes
Scholarship to Students from backward classes
Assistance for housing for BC families.
Against TDP
● During 2014 elections, the TDP government had given 118 promises to the BC’s of them,
not even 10 percent were accomplished. They promised to spend Rs 10,000 Crore every
year towards BC welfare but spent only Rs 19,329 Crore in the entire five years instead of
the promised Rs 50,000 crore.
