GOOD MORNING, FRIENDS!
Please place your backpacks in your cubbies and
meet at the meeting rug!
Give your neighbor a high-five and say "My name
is ... and I am going to have a good day!"
QUESTIONS: GREETING
How does the greeting set a positive tone and provide a sense of recognition?
It shows the students that their feelings are valid and they can start the day by
talking to their friends and classmates.
How does the teacher introduce the greeting?
The teacher speaks in a cheerful voice and greets each child by their names and
addresses them all to read the board at the same time, in a slow manner.
How does the greeting help children learn names and practice hospitality?
It teaches children to introduce themselves to people they meet and show respect
to them.

share with the class what your goal is for the
week!
We will use our listening ears when our
friends are sharing.

What social skills are sharers practicing?
The sharers are practicing how to speak in front of others and feel comfortable with
it. They practice being able to share their thoughts aloud to a room of people.
What are the community-building elements of this sharing?
The community-building elements are the students are learning to listen and share
with their peers. They're learning to participate in a group discussion and sit quietly
to listen to the speaker.
What routines and behaviors do children need to learn and practice in order to be
successful with around-the-circle sharing?
Children must learn the routine of sitting and listening quietly while their classmate
speaks. A behavior they need to learn is active listening so that they are fully
engaged in what the speaker is saying.
GROUP ACTIVITY
"WHO IS THE VOICE?"
We are going to play "Who is The Voice"!
Ms. Romo will take volunteers to be The Guesser
The Guesser will stand at the front of the class and
guess who The Voice is! The class will silently pick who
The Voice is.
The Voice will say "Hello" in a funny voice and The
Guesser will guess who they are!

What routines and behaviors did children need to learn in order to be successful
with this activity?
The children will establish the routine to sit and listen to the teacher provide
instructions for the activity. They will also establish the behavior to be respectful
to each other while working together.
What social skills are children practicing?
The children are practicing working together as a group and make a group
decision that respects other people's opinions on the decision.
What does the teacher do during the activity to manage behavior?
The teacher kidwatches and observes everyone's actions and words to ensure
they are all working together.

message before the meeting? During the meeting?
The children are learning to be quiet before the meeting starts that way they know
when the meeting starts. During the meeting, they're practicing active listening.
In what ways does the content of the message support the academic
curriculum and engage the learners?
The children are learning to formulate answers to semi-difficult questions that
require a bit of critical thinking.
What are the community-building elements of this message and the work
with the message?
The community-building elements are implemented within the questions of the basis
of respecting other student's talking time and respecting other students.
