You can use this document to familiarize yourself with various aspects of an
assembly and to identify the logic boards and their compatible hardware and
firmware that are available for use in all Gen8 EGMs.
Logic boards are continuously updated with the introduction of new EGMs. If an
inconsistency is found between the description of a board in this document and
what is known to be required for field support, please alert the Technical Support
team at [email protected] or (800) 482-3723.
Parts The Parts Support team is available to identify and order parts and can be
support contacted at [email protected] or (800) 482-3723 option 5.

1. Ground yourself.
2. Disconnect any video and network cables from the front of the logic cage
assembly.
3. Open the logic cage door, turn the yellow butterfly knob on the outside of the logic
cage counter clockwise to release the logic board assembly from the backplane,
and then slide it out of the cage.
Remove the
battery anti-
discharge tabs.
For guidance on recommended batteries and their replacement, see document 23-
01320 Extended power down advisory.

Note A Gen9 logic board assembly supports only 3ME4 GREEN label CFast
cards for game content and G2S scratch partitions for optimal support.
There have been no changes to the firmware on the 3SE G2S scratch partition
cards, only the label has been changed to make the game and scratch partition
cards consistent for long term support.

Note The procedure to convert the components is the same for logic board
assemblies that include an Adlink Technology COM board with a silver heat sink or
an MSC Technologies COM board with a black heat sink.
Note If a gaming authority in your jurisdiction has verified the applicable BIOS,
FPGA, or UBC signatures through the GLI Verify application, please confirm the
chips have been re-installed properly on the configuration stick.
Caution Because a logic board assembly must be properly identified, the part
number label on the assembly must be changed after any conversion. Not
changing the label will introduce confusion in ongoing support.
The BIOS chip is installed in chip socket U6 with the orientation-dot on the label in
the bottom right corner. There is a matching orientation-dot next to the U6 on the
printed circuit board to assist with proper chip orientation.
The FPGA chip is installed in chip socket U7 with the orientation-dot on the label in
the upper left corner. There is a matching orientation-dot next to the U7 on the
printed circuit board to assist with proper chip orientation.
The UBC chip is installed in the chip socket U5 with the orientation dot on the label
in the upper left corner. There is a matching orientation dot next to the U5 on the
printed circuit board to assist with proper chip orientation.
A configuration stick that is not properly seated in the Gen8 logic board card slot
can result in performance issues (such as freezing, re-booting, or failure to boot).
It is important to verify that the BIOS and FPGA chips are properly installed in the
chip sockets and that the configuration stick is fully seated in the card slot.
