This method statement outlines are to Floor Screeding Work for project The Proposed Construction
and Completion of Pantai Hiburan Tourism Development, Rompin, Pahang Darul Makmur for The

4.0 METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR PAINTING WORKS

4.1 Surface Preparation:


4.1.1.1 All the substrate/concrete surfaces shall be clean, free from grease, oil,
laitance or other loosely adhering particles and sharp edges.
4.1.1.2 All substrate/concrete surfaces shall be dried, clean, smooth and even, free
of ridges and hollows.
4.1.1.3 For toilet area, waterproofing shall be completed, fully cured and ready to
receive floor screeding works.

4.2 Floor Screeding Setting Out: Marking and Mortar Pegs:


4.2.1.1 Setting Out: Marking
➢ From 1m Floor Finish Level (FFL) the level pegs marked along
the wall as reference line.
4.2.1.2 Mortar Pegs
➢ Mortar pegs provided at every 1500mm to 2000mm interval
between two mortar pegs.

4.3 Floor Screeding: Batching and Mixing:
4.3.1.1 Mortar screed shall be properly mixed with suitable measuring method eg:
gauge box. In order to achieve consistent mortar mixing, screeding mixing
ratio shall comply to the following design mix:-
Cement : Sand
1 : 4 to 6

4.3.1.2 Concrete mixer machine shall be used to mix the mortar screed.

4.4 Floor Screeding: Application:


4.4.1.1 Sprinkle water onto the surface to receive floor screed where and when
necessary, before applying coats. This is to obtain uniform suction and
reduce excessive suction.
4.4.1.2 Mortar screed poured to the floor screed area. Mortar screed trowel to the
floor screed finish level by follow mortar pegs as guidelines.
4.4.1.3 When mortar screed reached to the finish level, mortar screed shall be
smoothly floated using timber float until the surface of the mortar setting
bed is absolutely true and even in plane.
4.4.1.4 Final coat shall be finished with float and sponged to fine, lightly
trowelled with steel trowel.

9.0 SAFETY AND ENVIROMENT


9.1 All construction work will be carried-out in accordance with Project Safety plan, Owner
Safety Procedures, Vendor Safety Instruction and statutory regulations.
9.2 Personal protective equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE, including safety goggles,
gloves, and protective clothing to prevent exposure to chemicals and materials used in
screeding.
9.3 Ventilation: Ensure that the work area is properly ventilated to prevent inhalation of fumes
and dust.
9.4 Tools and equipment: Use tools and equipment that are in good condition and appropriate
for the task at hand. Inspect all equipment before use, and ensure that they are properly
maintained and used according to manufacturer guidelines.
9.5 Material handling: Use proper lifting techniques when handling heavy bags of screed or
other materials. Use equipment such as dollies or forklifts to move heavy materials, and
avoid overloading equipment.
9.6 Slip and fall prevention: Keep the work area clean and free of obstacles to prevent slips,
trips, and falls. Use caution when working on elevated surfaces, and use appropriate fall
protection equipment when necessary.
9.7 Electrical safety: Avoid using electrical equipment near water or in damp conditions.
Ensure that all electrical equipment is properly grounded and has proper insulation.
9.8 Fire prevention: Keep flammable materials away from heat sources, and use fire-resistant
materials when possible.
9.9 Emergency procedures: Ensure that all workers are familiar with emergency procedures in
case of accidents or injuries, including first aid and evacuation procedures.
