Background and Rationale

The document discusses the new challenges faced by BSHM students with the transition to distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. It notes that many students struggle to learn on their own without the structure of in-person classes. Some of the key challenges mentioned are a lack of access to learning materials and internet connectivity for online classes, as well as needing to work to support themselves and their families financially since the pandemic began. New Challenges and coping mechanism of

BSHM students during distance learning.

Introduction and Rationale

Today's schooling system is the obsolete result of the industrial
revolution. the assembly line learning compartmentalizes the way
students develop skills and does not responsible for changing
technical advances and the professions of future that would be
much more integrated ways of thinking. education isn't something
that occurs only at education- but rather takes place, as jobs
move, and new skills are required in the work. most of the
students right now are struggling to learn on their own. mainly
because they have different delays on learning that most of the
time being dealt much more effectively during face-to-face
classes. one of the examples of the problems or challenges of the
bshm students is lack of learning material to join the online
classes. a large portion of the bshm students is now working
students to sustain their education because they don't have
internet and they only rely on data connection. some of them
need to work because their parents lose their jobs and now need
extra source of income to sustain their daily needs. that is few of
the struggles that bshm students are going into right now.
As a result of the amazing development of the COVID-19
Pandemic, the Department of Education has switched from
traditional face-to-face learning to the new normal. Our students
are now accustomed to modular distance learning as the new
normal. This research is being conducted to better understand
students' experiences with modular distance learning by
identifying the difficulties they encountered in this new normal and
the coping mechanisms they employed to deal with these
difficulties.
