Configure network cards, devices and
addresses
In Packet tracer
• Click on PC to open
config and click on
IP configuration,
enter details here,
then verify in cmd
with ipconfig
Wireless router configuration
• Double click router and click on GUI to configure
Change windows TCP/IP Settings
1. Select Start , then select Settings >
Network & Internet
2. For a Wi-Fi network, select Wi-Fi >
Manage known networks. Choose
the network you want to change the
settings for, then select Properties.
3. For an Ethernet network, select
Ethernet, then select the Ethernet
network you’re connected to.
4. Under IP assignment, select Edit.
Specify IP Address Settings
For IPv4: Under Edit IP settings, choose Manual, then turn on IPv4.
To specify an IP address, in the IP address, Subnet prefix length, and Gateway boxes, type the IP address
settings.
To specify a DNS server address, in the Preferred DNS and Alternate DNS boxes, type the addresses of the
primary and secondary DNS servers.

For IPv6: Under Edit IP settings, choose Manual, then turn on IPv6.
To specify an IP address, in the IP address, Subnet prefix length, and Gateway boxes, type the IP address
settings.
To specify a DNS server address, in the Preferred DNS and Alternate DNS boxes, type the addresses of the
primary and secondary DNS servers.
When you select Automatic (DHCP), the IP address settings and DNS server address setting are set automatically
by your router or other access point (recommended).
When you select Manual, you can manually set your IP address settings and DNS server address.
When you’re done, select Save.

• Press windows key
+r to open run and
enter:
control.exe /name
Microsoft.Networkand
SharingCenter
• Click change
adapter settings,
right click adapter
and choose
‘Properties’
Expert method
• Select either IPv4 or
IPv6 and click
Properties
• Enter IP
configuration and
click ok
• Verify settings with
ipconfig in cmd
Verify with ipconfig
• ipconfig output
Configure end devices and perform
network testing
Verify connectivity
• Send an icmp echo request to a target system and wait for
a response to verify connectivity in the network
• Ping an ip address or hostname, look for the reply time
