16. A boat takes 4 hours to go 44 km downstream and it can go 20 km upstream at the same time. Find the
speed of the stream and that of the boat in still water.
17. A man travels 300 km partly by train and partly by car. He takes 4 hours if the travels 60 km by train and
the rest by car. If he travels 100 km by train and the remaining by car, he takes 10 minutes longer. Find the
speeds of the train and the car separately.
18. The numerator of a fraction is 4 less than the denominator. If the numerator is decreased by 2 and the
denominator is increased by 1, then the denominator is eight times the numerator. Find the fraction.
19. Draw the graph of the pair of equations 2𝑥𝑥 + 𝑦𝑦 = 4 and 2𝑥𝑥 − 𝑦𝑦 = 4. Write the vertices of the triangle
formed by these lines and the Y-axis. Find the area of this triangle.
20. In the given figure, ABCD is a rectangle find the value of x and y.
