High Pressure HydraulicsDIRECTIONAL CONTROL VALVES
Hydraulic Components Used With
Confidence Throughout the World
Dynex manufactures hydraulic components and systems which operate under
dificult conditions including high pressure, contamination, dirty environments,
‘mult-viscosity special fluids and extreme temperature variations.
ALLEADER IN HIGH PRESSURE HYDRAULICS
Incorporated in 1977, Dynew/Rivett can trace its history to 1884. When hydraulics
became a major industry in the 1940's, the company offered a full line of hydraulic
products. High pressure checkball pumps rated for 15.000 psi (1040 bar) were
developed in the 1960's.
Pumps are now available rated from 6000 to 20000 ps! (420 to 1380 bar). Models
are available for use with multi-viscosity special fluids, including water glycol
‘Skydrol, other phosphate ester fluids, various aerospace fluids and lube fluids.
HIGH PRESSURE VALVES RATED TO 15000 PSI (1040 BAR)
Dynex HP pattem valves, witha simple siding-spool design, operate at prossures
to 10000 psi (700 bar). VST Series seated valves provide reliable shiting with a
non-siting bal-on-seat design. These positive sealing valves are rated to
15000 psi (1040 bar)
‘Subplate mounted valves that mount on standard NEPA. (CETOP) patterns are
rated to 5000 psi (350 bar).
DYNEX VALVES ADD VALUE TO YOUR EQUIPMENT
Customers use Dynex high-performance pumps and valves for stronger, more
efficient and reliable designs — for machines that can be used with confidence
around the world, without concer for hydraulic problems.
We are committed to responding to customers’ special requirements. Our flexible
design and manufacturing processes provide quick response to your needs. We
can shorten your new product development time, as well as support your regular
production requirements,

Function symbols show solenoid
actuated models, as reference. Air,
hydraulic or lever actuators are also
available. Flow pattern in the center
position or during crossover is
determined by the spool selected.
FLOW ACTUATING PATTERN
Operating actuator "A" opens flow
path to port *A* (P-+A). Operating
actuator “B" opens flow path to port
“B" (P-+B). Models with Code 6
operators, which are actuator
centered, are the exception.
Spring-centered or spring-offset
‘models are spring positioned unless
actuated continuously.
Code 3 operators (two position
detented) hold the spool in the last
actuated position. These valves can
be actuated momentarily (minimum
electrical signal duration, 50 ms) to
shift and hold the spool in that
position.

Consistent with standard practice, the

‘SOLENOID ADVANTAGES
Solenoid models are quiet and
moisture resistant for long life. Wet
atmature design eliminates dynamic
seals and increases the available
shifting forces. Static o-rings prevent
‘external leakage.
MANUAL SOLENOID OVERRIDE
Solenoid override pins are made of
corrosion-resistant brass for trouble
{ree operation.
The "M" option, shown at right,
provides convenient hand-actuated
override, without the use of tools.
Refer to “Typical Model Code" on the
appropriate page for each specific
model.
STANDARD WIRE LEADS
Standard models include UL listed
and CSA approved wire leads. The
valves feature large, lightweight
wiring boxes, providing a rigid,
strong enclosure for electrical
connections,
Note that actuators are identified as
“A" or *B" on the nameplate. Valve
function symbols are also shown for
‘most common models.
The nameplate retainer helps during
installation, keeping the proper
nameplate with each valve when
‘wiring multiple valves.

Connecting wire leads is easier with
this convenient feature. Four sets of
‘common terminal screws let you cut

standard T9.5.29-1980; A.N.S.
standard B9S,55M-1981)
Valves with these UL recognized and
CSA certified connectors can be
serviced without disturbing wiring.
Internal valve wiring is complete,
with leads connected to a terminal

and CSA approved solder-less
terminals.

This high pressure and high flow
capability provides great efficiency in
a very compact size.
HIGH EFFICIENCY OPERATION
Large internal flow passages, with
uniform flow areas throughout the
body coring, provide exceptional
‘efficiency. Typical loop pressure drop
(open center spool) is a low 98 psi at
8 US. gpm (7 bar at 30 L/min) nominal
flow (AP loop = P-»A + BT).
‘SMOOTH, RELIABLE SHIFTING
A four-land spool design assures
exceptionally smooth spool travel.
Additional outboard lands provide
greater support, eliminating spool
imbalance.
Balancing grooves provide precise
centering, reducing silt buildup and
potential spool sticking,
Close tolerances assure accurate
land sequencing and low leakage.
Spools are interchangeable to meet
changing requirements.
LOW POWER REQUIREMENTS
On solenoid models, efficient low
power requirements reduce energy
consumption.
Holding power requirements are only
20 Watts for 115 Volt A.C. or 28 Watts,
for 12 or 24 Volt D.C. solenoids.

DOS valves provide exceptionally low
pressure drop, as shown in the
performance curves.
Large internal flow paths, with tank
return pressure boost, increase
available shifting forces for depen-
able high flow operation.
DETERMINING PRESSURE DROP
‘The curves show resistance to flow
for various spool types. The table
identifies the proper pressure drop
‘curve for each spool and flow path,
AN EXAMPLE
In the table under spool Type 1,
curve "C" is called out to determine
the pressure drop for PA. Looking
at the curves, "C” indicates a drop of
about 55 psi at 8 U.S. gpm (3,8 bar
‘at 30 L/min)
To determine total “loop” drop, the
Individual pressure drops for P—>A
and BT (or P-+B and AT) must
be added.
For example, curve “F” is used for
the return flow 8-»T for spool Type 1
Curve “F” indicates a pressure drop
of 35 psi at 8 U.S. gpm (2,4 bar at
30 L/min). Adding the individual
pressure drops results in a “loop”
drop through the valve in both
directions of 55 + 35 = 90 psi (3,8 +
2,4 = 6.2 bar).

GENERAL VALVE MOUNTING
‘The mounting surface drawing shows
the minimum flush or raised surface
requited forthe NFPA. 003 (CETOP 3)
pattern, Mounting face must be flat
within 0.0004 inch/4.0 inches (0,010
mm/102 mm) with a surface finish of
‘32 microinch(0,80 pm) AA.
Port o-rings are included with all
valves. Mounting bolts must be
ordered separately; 10-24 U.N.C.
Threaded x 0.75 inch (19 mm),
Grade 8 or better; four required
Recommended mounting torque is
65 Ibrin (7,3 Nem) maximum,
