Choose one the following projects and complete the design on Packet Tracer. Each

Project 1 - WAN Optimization design for Enterprise

Project Scope

A WAN network has to be designed for an organization which has a main branch and
remote branch. There are 100 users in the main branch and 50 users in the remote
branch. The main branch has an application server which should be accessible by the
users in the remote branch. The WAN link has to be optimized such that only the
traffic to the application server should be allowed on it.

Network requirements

1. TCP/IP Design for the LAN networks at both the locations.

2. TCP/IP table with IP address details

5. Allow only traffic to the application server over the WAN link. All other traffic
should be denied for performance.

server

Project Scope

A network has to be designed for a small business organization which has 100 users.
The organization hosts an e-commerce application on a server which is accessible to
internet users using https and with a public IP address.

Requirements

1. Identify the appropriate hardware which would be used (Cisco )

2. Users on the internet should be able to access only https on the e-commerce
server.

3. Users on the internet should have access only to the public IP address of the server
and not the private IP address.

Project 3 – Warehouse design using collapsed core architecture

Project Scope

The project aims to design a network for a 2 story warehouse using Cisco collapsed
Core architecture. In collapsed core architecture, the Core and distribution layer is
combined. The warehouse has two departments which are the logistics and
management. The logistics group is seated on the ground floor and the management
group on the 1st floor. There are 40 and 20 users respectively in the logistics and
management department. The departments should be segregated appropriately using
appropriate TCP/IP addressing and VLAN’s. An internet router is currently available
on the network.

Project 4 – Enterprise Network Design using IP Subnetting

Project Scope

An enterprise has a main branch which is located in United States and 4 branches
located at different locations across the World. Each location has 80 users each. The
main location has a server which has is required to be accessed by all users in the
other locations. The network 172.16.0.0/16 is to be subnetted for the required number
of networks and used in the network design.

Project 5 – Network design proposal for Casino

Project Scope

The project aims to design a network for a casino. The casino has 10 floors including
the ground floor. The ground floor has a lobby area. Each floor also has a lobby area.
There are 40 rooms in each floor, each of which has a network point to which the
guest PC is connected. The casino network has two servers which are used by the
staff. A high speed internet connection is available which is to be shared by the guest
and staff network. There is a total of 25 staff in the casino based at the ground floor.

Project 6 – Hospital Network Design

Project Scope

A network proposal has to be designed for a hospital which has the following. There
is a main block and three wards in the campus. The main block is the administrative
block where registration of new patients takes place. The main block has 5 floors. The
hospital has identified hospital management software, which should be accessible by
the employees. The software is installed on a server at the administrative block. At the
ground floor, there are 15 computers at the billing section. At other floors, there is one
computer user each. The farthest distance between the computer on the top most floor
and the ground floor is less than 70 meters. The wards have 5 floors each, with 10
computers in the ground floor of each ward. The distance between the wards and the
blocks are less than 80 Meters. The computers in the wards may be increased based
on future expansion plans.

Project 7 – Small Business Network Design with Guest Network

Project Scope

A small business network has to be designed for an organization. The organization


has occasional guest users (Max 10) visiting the office. There are a total of 50 users in
the organization. A FTP server is also available for sharing files.

2. The guest network should be restricted to access only FTP service on the FTP
server and all the access to the LAN network should be blocked.

Project 8 – Network design proposal for airport

Project Description

The project is to design a proposal for setting up a network in an airport. The airport
has three departments - Airport authority, Flight service providers, and Guests.

The airport authority maintains a server which handles the flight management
controls. The flight service providers should have access only to the specific server in
the airport authority network and not to any other systems. The guest users should
have wireless access to a high speed internet connection, which should be shared
among all the users in all the departments.

The wireless access should be using a common password. The guest users should not
have access to the other two departments. The users should obtain IP addresses
automatically. The airport authority has 20 users, the flight service providers have 40
users and the maximum numbers of guests are estimated to be 100.

Project 9 – Design a pre-sales proposal for network setup in a


university

The university has the following 7 departments.

Project 10 – Campus Network Design

Project Scope

A campus network design for a college. There are 100 users in the college; 30 users in
the main building, 30 users in bldg 1, and 40 users in bldg 2. Every building has a
lobby that is 200 sqft open space, where wireless access to the network is required.
Only authorized personal should have access to the wireless network.

The distance between bldg 1 and the main building is 300 mtrs. The distance between
bldg 2 and the main building is 90 mtrs. The distance between bldg 1 and bldg 2 is 70
mtrs. A high-speed cable Internet connection is available in the main building that
needs to be shared among the users.

The necessary equipment’s and appropriate topology required for the campus network
design along with the IP address schema, IP address management, secure wireless
access, internet sharing, features and services should be worked out. A bill of material

should be included with products from Microsoft, Cisco, D-LINK or Netgear with
appropriate quantity that can be used for setting up of the campus infrastructure.

features for LAN security
2. Identify router for broadband Internet sharing.
3. Identify appliance to protect the web server from attackers and malicious content
the Internet.

Project 12– Wireless Home Network Design Proposal

Project 14 – Network Design proposal for a bank

Abstract

A network proposal has to be developed for a bank. The bank has a main office,
which is located in London, and has 5 branch offices located at Paris, California,
India, Dubai and Qatar. The bank has an application server, which is used by its
customers across the world for online transactions. All the branches have high-speed
Internet connection. There are approximately 100 users in each of the branch offices
and 200 users in the main office.
