Plot Hooks/Threads

The document describes several potential plot hooks and areas for a DnD campaign, including: 1) The murder of the ancient and powerful Asmundur Clan, leaving just one survivor, presents a mystery for the PCs to investigate. Possible culprits include a nearby city or resurrected powerful foe. 2) An underground labyrinth can be accessed only through high skill checks and provides a challenge for mid-level PCs. 3) Other areas mentioned include an altar, world tree, portal to other realms, and temples for training physical and intellectual classes.

Plot Hooks/Threads:

The Murdur of the Asmundur Clan: The Asmundur Clan is an immensely

powerful and old clan that have been protecting the land of Skotadi for
millennia, so the fact that they all got murdered but one is a great mystery, and
the identity of the assailants are unknown. This is a really good plot hook
because one of the PCs have direct correlation to the clan, interesting directions
this can go is that the nearby city of Psodyte somehow wanted this, or a powerful
being that Divadon and Jayce triumphed over before, but is somehow
resurrecting themselves, another is possibly a mutiny within the Asmundur
Clan, but this is wild and I’ll probably only do this if it feels right. Definites are
that they learn this through spying on certain characters, Divadon, any important
figure within the Elven Council, asking Luna’s dad, and investigating certain
parts of Dredge Suit. Another definite is that the Elven Council and the mayor of
Dredge Suit are red herrings and are not the perpetrators.

The Underground Labyrinth: It can only be accessed through getting a nat 20 or

passing a DC 25 perception check while in the library, the main hook of the
Labyrinth is a way to fatten up the pcs if they are in a overarching story, also the
Labyrinth is a challenge for mid level PCs and if somehow found earlier then
send in a NPC, possibly an earlier PC that they liked interacting with, and if they
insist on entering the dungeon, will go in and die.

Visiting the hellmouth: This is high level stuff, I don’t think they’re going to be
interested in anything outside of the nearby region, so I won’t type anything
here.
Nearby Areas;
Altar of Jervos: This is of course the altar where the followers of Jervos
commune, if a worshipper of Jervos comes, they are granted a small boon in the
shape of a magical item.
The World Tree: This is a direct copy of the World Tree from the norse mythos,
this is essentially another world in on itself and I haven’t really thought about it,
it will be an interesting piecemeal in future arcs
Portal to the 9 realms: This is what it says on the tin, this is an inert portal that
goes to the 9 realms, Divadon used to use this for his many adventures but since
turned it off after not needing it. The portal can only be opened by passing an
arcana check of 25 and also a nat 20. This leads to the extraplanar planes of the
world of DnD.
Stormfield: It is an area where physical champs can train and get higher level
with out having to go through combat, this is a consistent way to level up the
physical pcs if they are falling behind on the curve of combat. Though to start
gaining the benefits of training in the stormfield, a pc must first meet a
requirement/several requirement.
Temple of Epiphany: The same thing goes for this area but for intellectual
classes.
Entrance to The Unlands: The Unlands is a vast underground system where a lot
of dwarves and nocturnal races live, Entrance to the Unlands is just an entrance
that goes to the much deeper Unlands, and this will only come into play when
the campaign goes on for much longer.

Plot:
Right after the encounter, divadon is gonna announce and reassure all the
students. And also announce that someone during all the commotion of the fight,
broke into his office and stole something, one student tried to stop the attacker
but was brutalized and sent to the infirmary, his name is Hallvard Wormhole.
