Direction: Read and analyze the following situations. Based on the Code of Ethics for Professional
Teachers determine the violations/offenses committed and defend your answer.

1. Mr. Buencamino is a Principal at Bayabas National High School. His cousin, a candidate for a
congressional race in their locality notices that the opponent is winning among the parents of the
school. With this, His cousin asked for his help thus, Mr. Buencamino organized a secret
campaign and paid parents at school in favor of his cousin. What part of the Code of Ethics for
Professional Teachers is violated by Mr. Buencamino?
 The part of the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers violated by Mr. Buencamino is
Article II, Section 5 in which it stated that a teacher shall not engage in the promotion of
any political, religious, or other partisan interest, and shall not, directly or indirectly, solicit,
require, collect, or receive any money or service or other valuable material from any
person or entity for such purposes. Mr. Buencamino violated that considering that he is
paid the parents so that his cousin will win in the congressional race.

2. During the election, Teacher Aileen is in favor of one candidate because they share the same
vision and she is convinced with the candidate`s advocacies for the country, with this, on her
Facebook, she posts, likes, and shares videos of her candidate. While her social media states the
obvious, she does not use political favors in her classes and thus shared with her students the
importance of selecting a good leader. Is Teacher Aileen coercing a political course of action in
her students?
 No, Teacher Aileen is not coercing a political course of action in her students for the
reason that she only kept her opinion on herself and on her social media accounts and
did not tell her opinion on her students. Instead, she told them the importance of selecting
a good leader not involving her in favour candidate. Additionally, she didn’t violate the
Article II, Section 7 which indicates a teacher shall not use his position or official authority
or influence to coerce any other person to follow any political course of action.

3. Mrs. Bao, among other teachers at Mt. Magayon Elementary School has been serving the school
for seven years. Being the senior teacher in their school, she delegates her work to newly hired
teachers in addition to the tasks given by the School Principal. Is Mrs. Bao acting in accordance
with being a Professional Teacher?
 Mrs. Bao is not acting accordance with being a Professional Teacher considering that
she is passing her work to the newly hired teacher which is not instructed by their
principal. In Article V, Section 2 stated that a teacher is not entitled to claim for work of
his own and shall give due credit for the work of others which he may use which means
that she should not pass her work to credit it afterwards. She should be the one to do the
task to get credit for it.

4. Mr. Guerrero is a High School teacher famous in TikTok. His videos often contain sexy dance
covers and thirst traps. Although his videos are harmless, his female students would follow and
leave comments that are inappropriate which alarmed the faculty and the Principal. On what
grounds should Mr. Guerrero be sanctioned?
 Mr. Guerrero can be sanctioned on the ground which is stated in the Article XI, Section 3
stated that a teacher shall maintain at all times a dignified personality which could serve
as a model worthy of emulation by learners, peers and all others. Though his videos are
harmless, the students might copy it and pose it also on their social media accounts.
5. John being a child, was noisy and chaotic, Mrs. Agila, his teacher punished him. Upon hearing
what happened, John`s mother came and confronted Mrs. Agila. In her defense, she only did
what a parent should do to his/her child/ren and blamed the mother for being an absentee parent.
Is the judgment and action of Mrs. Agila justifiable as a teacher?
 The judgment and action of Mrs. Agila is not justifiable as a teacher considering that she
punished John just because of being noisy which is stated in the Code of Ethics for
Professional Teachers Article VIII, Section 8 that a teacher shall not inflict corporal
punishment on offending learners nor make deductions from their scholastic ratings as a
punishment for acts which are clearly not manifestation of poor scholarship. On the other
hand, she blamed the mother of John for being an absentee parent who violates Article
IX Section 3 indicates a teacher shall hear parent’s complaints with sympathy and
understanding, and shall discourage unfair criticism. Mrs. Agila do not have the right to
judged John’s mother for being an absentee parent because Mrs. Agila is not present on
their home to know everything.

obtained her license. In frustration, Ms. Abby live-streamed their confrontation which has

viewers and created great damage to the parent. On what grounds should Ms. Abby be
sanctioned?
 I think Ms. Abby be sanctioned on the grounds in which she live-streamed their
confrontation which escalated to become a trending video on social media that damage
the reputation to the parent. In Article IX, Section 3, it is stated that a teacher shall hear
parent’s complaints with sympathy and understanding, and shall discourage unfair
criticism. Ms. Abby should not live-streamed their confrontation, instead, she should have
just listen to the complained of the parents and make solutions to the problem.

methods of teaching Mathematics. With this, a parent of a low-performing student in his class
offered him to tutor his son which is his student in exchange for a large amount of money. Without
hesitation, Alfonso agreed. What part of the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers is violated
by Alfonso?

 The Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers that Teacher Alfonso violated is the Article

remuneration from tutorials other what is authorized for such service. Teacher Alfonso

their conversation, Teacher Gina shared a viral video of Teacher Dianne`s student and gossiped
about the students and stated a humiliating remark about the student and they laugh about it not
knowing that a student has overheard their conversation. Are the teachers acting in accordance
with being a Professional Teacher?
 No, Teacher Dianne together with her co faculty is not acting in accordance with being a
Professional Teacher. Article VIII, Section 3 dictates that under no circumstance shall a
teacher be prejudiced or discriminate against a learner which means that the teacher

son of the Mayor elect and even campaigned for his resignation. Is the judgment and action of
Mrs. Cortez justifiable as a teacher?
 No, the judgment and action of Mrs. Cortez is not justifiable as a teacher. According to
Article V, Section 7 stated that a teacher may apply for a vacant position for which he is
qualified; provided that he respects the system of selection on the basis of merit and
competence; provided, further, that all qualified candidates are given the opportunity to
be considered. In the case of Mrs. Cortez, she doesn’t respect the system of selection on
the basis of merit and competence, also, she spread false accusation that she have been
duped that have been stated in Article VI, Section 2 that a teacher shall not make any
false accusation or charges against superiors, especially under anonymity. However, if
there are valid charges, he should present such under oath to competent authority.

his employment, he has lived a luxurious lifestyle that almost made him pocket empty. The school
has received a lot of demand letters and calls from lending services and banks in which Teacher
Alexander made a loan and missed payments. What part of the Code of Ethics for Professional
Teachers is violated by Teacher Alexander?

 Article X, Section 2 is the part of the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers violated by
Teacher Alexander which indicates that a teacher shall maintain a good reputation with
respect to financial matters such as in the settlement of his just debts, loans and other
financial affairs. In short, he should not applied for several loans if he has a pending loan
