The five Swiss narrow-gauge railways MOB, MVR, TPC, TPF and NStCM ordered dual-power diesel rack-and-pinion locomotives from Stadler in August 2012. The locomotives can operate using electric power from overhead lines for transportation and using diesel power for on-site maneuvers and in cases where overhead power is unavailable. They are used for infrastructure work like construction, snow clearing, and emergency response. Their dual-power capability provides operational flexibility.

DUAL-POWER DIESEL RACK-AND-PINION

LOCOMOTIVE
MOB, MVR, TPC, TPF and NStCM, Switzerland

In August 2012, the five Swiss narrow-gauge railways MOB, MVR, TPC, TPF and NStCM ordered tailored HGem 2/2 and Gem
2/2 dual-power diesel rack-and-pinion/adhesion locomotives from Stadler. The locomotives are assigned to the infrastructure
divisions to be used for construction work, snow clearing and intervention trips. Their dual modality gives the trains real potential.
In order to move heavy work trains, the locomotives can be operated in multiple unit train control and travel to the working prem-
ises using environmentally friendly electric power. For manoeuvres on-site if the overhead contact line is switched off or in case
of malfunctions, there is a powerful, state-of-the-art diesel engine. The locomotive can be remotely controlled for special jobs.
