10) ERCTION PROCEDURE:

10.1: Methodology of material handling:

1. Material Layout: Materials storage place should be in such way that there
should not double handling. Depending upon the size of the building and
site condition, storage layout should be finalized. Storage layout to be
prepared keeping in mind the Erection Sequence.
2. .Handing & Storage : Structural Materials should be staked above the
ground on wood blocks. The materials should be stored one on another with
in between wood block for safe handling at the time of erection.
All hardware and building accessories materials should be stored under the
cover area to avoid the misplace of stolen of the same.
The colour coated sheet have tendency to become wet from rain, natural
condensation or other causes, patches of white rust may result. While
staking the materials, we should take precautionary steps to avoid the event.
For temporary storing of sheet in open area, then they should be covered
with Tarpaulin or any water proof materials. Never use plastic since it
promotes build up of moisture. If, no cover is available, we to adopt the
special staking methodology as follows.

Panel materials are to be staked on top each other and wooden supports
need to be placed under the bottom panel to provide air space. The top panel
“3” is extended outward at least 900mm and the second panel “2” to be
extended down yard to the near the ground to protect the bunch of panels
“1” below. Cover the upper portion of the sheets “1” by wrapping with
tarpaulin at least 300mm.
The colour coated panel should be kept away from whitewash, cement, lime,
muds etc.

c) Stand the columns in place and secure anchor bolts with initial tightening.
d) Install temporary bracing followed by permanent bracing and secure
bolts/ nuts.
e) Plumb the columns, check all dimensions at base and at tie beam location
and tighten all nuts in sequence.

Step 2:
a) Assemble Roof Rafter components on the ground.
b) Rafter should be aligned and straight before raising roof rafter to
reduce erection time as it is easier to assemble these pieces on ground
than doing it in the air.
c) Install all bolts in rafter splice to the proper tension using turn of nuts
method.
d) Where the bay has rod bracing, ensure the hill side washer is fitted to
have proper nut tightening.
