1. Adolescence it is the stage of transition between childhood and adulthood it is marked by rapid
physical and mental development.

2. Puberty_ the time span over which adolescents reach sexual maturity.

Factors that affect the puberty are

I)Heredity ii)environmental factors iii)diet and exercise.


3. Endocrine glands are known as duct less glands as they do not have any duct of their own ,they pour
their secretions directly into the bloodstream

4. This is because iodine is needed for the production of thyroxine which helps to carry out the process
of metamorphosis.

5. Pituitary gland secretes hormones which influence the the production of testosterone from testis in
boys and oestrogen and progesterone from ovaries in girls. These hormones are released into the blood
stream and start the Rapid maturation of the gonads.

6. This is because menstrual cycle stops when the woman reaches 45_ 50 years of age . This is termed
as Menopause.

5. Importance of exercise in adolescence.

i) physical exercise helps in better digestion of food and more efficient elimination of toxins from the
body.

ii) it improves blood circulation..

iii) it increases the respiratory efficiency of lungs.

iv) it also helps to come back at the stress and strain of adolescence.
Importance of of good personal hygiene during adolescence_

_ it is the best way to protect the body from getting illness such as gastroenteritis and the common cold.

_ it also help aap prevent you from spreading diseases to other people.

_ it supports immunity from diseases .
