FORGERIES OF GERMAN WWII

OCCUPATION STAMPS: ZANTE,
INSELPOST (LEROS, VUKOVAR,
RHODOS) AND
GENERALGOUVERNEMENT (LOCAL
WARSAWA, RUDNIK NAD SADEM,
KOSCYSE).

 The stamps presented here are “almost perfect” (they
are never perfect) forgeries. They have the overprint and (if
there is) a back forged signature. The first fact allowing the
collector to detect them is that the back signature was made
with a rubber stamp instead of a hardened steel one (or a
metallic one in general). Probably, the ink used for the
overprint has an “after 1945” chemical composition. The only
thing we may suggest to collectors is to submit the stamps
they have to an expert (BBP experts are nice) and/or to
command a non invasive spectroscopic analysis of the
overprint. Happily each stamp presented here has its own
distinctive structure (overprint final design, color,
perforations, etc.). It will be easy for anyone to know if his
collection is infected with any of the forgeries presented here.
