LESSON PLAN
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of the key concepts
of measurement.
B. Performance The learner is able to formulate real-life problems involving
Standards measurements and solve these using a variety of strategies.

C. Learning At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

Competencies  approximates the measures of quantities particularly
length, weight/mass, volume, time, angle and
temperature and rate. M7ME-IIa-3
 solves problems involving conversion of units of
measurement. M7ME-IIb-2

Unpacked learning objectives:

a. Describe the different units used to measure time.
b. Solve and convert time from one unit to another.
c. Appreciate the importance of time in everyday life.

II. CONTENT

c. Setting the mood of the class

Full cooperation is encouraged during the

group activity. Each student is required to
participate and should manage their time
properly. Motivate the students to express
their ideas confidently through group
discussion and presentation. Students must
do their group output without any noise to
avoid distraction to other groups.
I remind you to always wear your face

today, let me first remind all of you on our
rules and regulations inside our
classroom. There are only two rules, that
is “to love and respect each other.” Isn’t it
great to love and respect each other?

h. Review
What was our lesson yesterday? Our lesson yesterday was all about
measurements.
Non-standard units of measurement developed
by ancient Egyptians and used units of
measurement based on body parts such as the
cubit and the half cubit. The English system of
measurement are the standard units of
measurement: inch, foot and yard, basic units
of length. The Metric System of Measurement
has a base unit for length (meter), mass (gram),
and volume/capacity (liter).
Very Good!
So, we are done with measurements
specially on Measuring Length. Yes Ma’am .

i. Developmental of the Lesson

Motivation:
What do you observe about these pictures? It’s a different device that tells time.
So, do you have now an idea about our Yes Ma’am! It’s about measuring time.
lesson for today?

Awesome!

Before we start our lesson, let’s have first

our objectives:
 Describe the different units
used to measure time.
 Solve and convert time from
one unit to another.
 Appreciate the importance of
time in everyday life.

j. Analysis and discussion:

Do you know how did Mona Otaw tell time
without mechanical and digital clock? –
IPED INTEGRATION
Mona Otaw (Primitive men) used to tell the
time by the position of the adlaw(sun), the
bito’en(star) and bulan(moon), and the
behavior of animals. They used sundial,
water clock, hour glass and other
improvised instruments until mechanical
clock, digital clock and other kind of clock
has been invented.

Let’s watch a video entitled “Measure of

Do you know how time is measured? Answers may vary

Time is measured by the rotation of Earth

on its axis (making one full day) and its
complete revolution around the sun
(making one year) in 365 days. – Science
Integration

Today, I will show you the units used to

measure time and their equivalent factor:

Everybody please read. – Literacy Skills Do us told.

60 seconds = 1 minutes
10 years = 1 decade
60 minutes = 1 hour (h)
100 years = 1 centuries
24 hours = 1 day (da)
12 months = 1 year (yr.)
1000 years =1 millennium
365 days =1 year
366 days = 1 leap year
52 weeks = 1 year

Class Activity: Students will raise their

hand to answer.

Instruction: Complete the following Expected answers:

statements.
1. There are ______days in a week. 1.There are 7 days in a week.
2. There are _____hours in a day. 2.There are 24 hours a day.
3. There are____months in a year. 3.There are 12 months in a year.
4. There are____seconds in a minute 4.There are 60 seconds in a minute.
5. There are _____minutes in an hour. 5.There are 60 minutes in an hour.

Example 1: How many hours in a week? No, Ma’am.

Can you solve it using the conversion?

How many days in a week? There are 7 days Ma'am.

How about hours in a day? There are 24 hours a day.

Since we have 7 days in a week and 24

hours a day, we have
24 hours
7 days x
1 day
= 168 hours in a week
Therefore, we have 168 hours in a week.

Example 2: Convert 216,000 minutes to

days.

Solution:
1 hour 1 day
216,000 min x x
60 min 24 hours
= 150 days
Now, let’s have an exercise. Solve the
following problems. Expected answers:
i. Convert 24 months in a year. i. 2 years
ii. Ryan finished typing a short ii. 210 minutes
story in 3 ½ hours. How
many minutes did he type the
short story?

Did you get the correct answers? Yes Ma’am!

Group Activity:
I will group the class into 3. Then each
group will have an assigned task to do
based on your learning style. Now you
have your group kindly make a small circle
each group and each of you must
participate.

Very Good!

Group 1: For Auditory/Kinesthetic

Make a song/jingle related in measuring
time.

Group 2: For Linguistic

Make a poem or short story about
measuring time.

Group 3: For Visual/Spatial

Draw at least 3 modern devices that
measures time.
