Job Description
Job Title: Environmental Officer
Reports to: Senior Environmental Officers
Division: Permitting and Compliance Division
Overall Objective: To undertake activities related to authorization, complaints,
response, enforcement, and development
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assisting in the screening of projects for Environmental Authorizations.
• Receiving, querying, and recording pollution complaints.
• Conducting site visits, compliance audits, and complaint investigations to
ensure that proper environmental management procedures and standards are
effective.
• Conducting research, analyzing data, preparing reports, and assisting in the
development of EPA’s position on environmental issues.
• Assisting in developing Terms of Reference for EIAs, reviewing EIAs, EMPs,
and drafting Environmental Authorizations, Complaint Letters, Prohibition
Notices, Cease Orders, and Enforcement Letters.
• Assisting the development of environmental regulations, guidelines, and
standards.
• Assisting and representing the EPA and Sector Agencies at workshops,
conferences/meetings, and consultations locally and overseas.
• Collecting physical and biological samples from the environment.
• Responding to Environmental Emergencies.
• Receiving, processing, and issuing short-term noise permits.
• Receiving and filing project and complaint documents.
• Performing related duties which may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications and Experience:
• A minimum of a B.Sc. in Environmental Studies, Chemistry, Engineering
OR
• A B.Sc. in any related field of study with at least two (2) years of relevant
experience working with projects.
• Experiences in the Oil and Gas sector will be considered as an asset.
• Computer Literacy.
• Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Candidate should be able to work with minimum supervision.
