I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of: Southeast Asian literature as mirror to a shared
heritage; coping strategies in processing textual information; strategies in examining features of a listening and
viewing material; structural analysis of words and propaganda techniques; and grammatical signals for opinion-
making, persuasion, and emphasis.
B. Performance Standard: The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering a persuasive speech based
on an informative essay featuring use of properly acknowledged information sources, grammatical signals for opinion-
making, persuasion, and emphasis, and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.
C. Learning Competencies and Objectives:

b. Use modals in constructing dialogue and in sentences.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the new lesson

The teacher will have a review about their previous topic


through spin the wheel activity. Students are expected to
share what they have learned from the previous discussion. Random students will be expected to share to the
class what they have learned from the previous
topic.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson (ENGAGE)


The teacher will play an audio-visual presentation of the song Students: (Singing the song)
which contains lyric related to the song. After singing, the
teacher will ask a few questions about the song.
a. What is the song all about?

Activity
The class will be divided into three (3) groups. Each
group will be going to construct a dialogue using modal verbs.
They will be given 10 minutes to prepare. Then after that,
they will choose a representative to deliver the dialogue in
front. Each group will be given 3 minutes to present. But
before they start the activity, the teacher will show first the
criteria for the students to be guided with their task.

Criteria
Correctness of answer 15 pts.
Presentation 10 pts.
Cooperation 5 pts.
Total 30 pts.

A modal verb is a type of auxiliary verb that is used to indicate
modality- that is likelihood, ability, permission, and obligation.
Modal verbs include: can / could, may / might, must, will /
would, and shall / should.
