Find the square roots of the complex number x if x  3  4 j by using De Moivre’s theorem.

Answers in radians or degrees were accepted. In the exam the guideline is to work all answers in radians.
Finding roots or raising to a power is on your information sheet.
I find it easier to answer questions on complex numbers if I make an argand diagram.

Different knowledge areas can be combined in a question. To answer you must know how to find
the value of a determinant and how to solve equations with complex numbers. The best approach
to answer the question is to start with what you know to do and build up your answer. The LHS is a
determinant and we know how to find the value, so that is the starting point.
